What Coolant?

I have a warning indicator saying coolant is low? What Coolant should I top up with?

I rang the dealer yesterday (Bib Stillwell) and they took a message and said they would ring me back, but as usual from that dealer, no one ever rings you back.

fill it with distilled water. radiator coolant is a mix of half water and half coolant.

I topped up using BMW coolant. It costs $20 for 1.5 liters but didn't need it all. If topping up with water forum members recommend using distilled water.

If you are in Sydney I will give you some. I bought some from BMW for the same reason, I got a warning light saying it's low, only needed about 10% of it to top it up.

If anyone in Sydney needs some, PM me, I think all the models use the same coolant as BMW seems to only have 1 type of it.

Is there any particular problem caused by using normal tap water instead of distilled water, eg does it cause corrosion in the engine?

A few times throughout the ownership of the vehicle should be fine, but with continued use it will cause corrosion and rust to settle in.
