13 freaking balance weights on one wheel???

Just got 225/45 Michelin A/S 3 tires square setup to try and fix the vibration issue I had been having after Meyle control arms HD. Not only is the viberation still there around 65-70.. They put a retarded amount of weights on one tire. This can't be normal?

So its 11 5 Fe weights on front driver, 11 rear driver, 13 rear pasg and 3 front past.. I believe all of them are 5 Fe

Costco doesn't have it.. Or at least this location. Anyone know if other costcos have it? I don't want to pay for balance and remount at another shop when I just got brand new tires.

Can I have the tires unmounted and return them for full refund or does costco have to do it?

That way I don't have to pay someone another 100 bucks to remount/balance already bought tires.

Go to a discount tire with a road force balancer and have the one wheel with all the weights checked for trueness.

no discount tire has them here. Firestone has them but when I had them do the front 2 tires they never gave me my road force numbers. This was on the old tires.

Wouldn't it make be better to return the tires and deal with a shop that can balance them with road force? Because if they find they are out of round and I get new tires at costco. i will have to pay for a balance each time I have problems with tires.

If Firestone didn't give you the road force numbers the first go around, what makes you think they will the next time?

Find a shop that can/will balance the tires and give you the road force numbers. Stand next to them and watch the screen if you have to. The tires are already on the wheels...it's at least worth a shot instead of going back and forth.

Not to mention, your old tires are probably long gone anyway. What are you expecting for Costco to put back on there after you try and return the current set?

Could be improper mounting. Tires have a "heavy" spot that should match the light piece of the rim. If you put both the heavy spots of the rim and tire at the same place you need million weight to balance.

No I was going to have them unmounted by another shop and drop them off. So I can get my money back on the install.. If I don't return them I am going to have to pay another shop 100 dollars + to do a job costco should have done.

I just had my super sports mounted and even after rotating the tire on the rims twice I have an average of 4.5 oz per wheel with road force. The Michelins are not marked with a heavy spot on the tire and it would not have made a difference.

Punch in your zip code and find a tire shop in your area that has a Hunter Road Force Balancer. Just because the tires weren't Road Forced though, doesn't mean that they needed to be. Either way, the best place to start is to have them rebalanced.

So I went to a 3rd shop and had them balance. They rotated the tires to the back and it fixed the problem. They couldn't tell me if the tires were causing the problem or the wheels. They said when I go to rotate them again the same problem might pop up again.

I don't know what to do now.

Dude, you're hopeless...

The reason why the vibration is "gone" now is because there isn't enough road force to notice the vibration when the wheel/tire assembly is placed on the rear of the car, but there IS enough road force to notice it in the front (given that those wheels are used for steering and any vibration will be noticed more through the steering wheel, etc.) as a result of greater sensitivity.

Someone that knows how to properly operate a road force balancer will quickly be able to tell you whether it's a bent wheel, a "bad" tire, or both. Unfortunately you just keep going to crappy shops that don't know what they're doing.

There are no non chain tire shops here that have road force. All the small ones that are highly rated just have a normal balance machine because the road forces cost a retarded amount. I went to a shop that had 40 reviews at about 5 stars but yeah you are right the problem is so small nothing but a road force would fix it for sure.

I just checked again and there is not ONE non chain store that has a road force.
