Is it worth it to get the tire insurance?

My friends are telling me to get it, I don't see why I should shell out $600 to get this insurance. What are your thoughts? How much is it to replace the run flat tire on the 335i?

I would never get it because replacing the run flats would be one of my top priorities.

You live down in FL your roads are great (no salt and plows digging up the roads and turning them into minefields).
If you lived up by me I would say DEF! The OEM RFT bubble VERY VERY easily.

i say get them. I bought it and its been very good for me. For example ive had a bubble on my rft which was replaced under warranty. I drove over a nail and they replaced the rtf under warranty. Lastly, i bent one of my rims which they replaced under warranty along with the tire.All this easily adds up to $1500 + so i would say get it.

OMG I could not disagree more!
You should definitely get the tire insurance. It's the best thing to happen to wheels and tires since rubber.

I'm pretty sure you can get it for cheaper than $600 though.
Anyways, just last week i got two tires replaced because of bubbles. 3 months ago i had one replaced too for the same reason. I'm sure within the next two months i'll be replacing the fourth one too.
These tires get bubbles very easily.
I have a lease so i need to return the car with the stock runflats and can't upgrade tires.
These runflats are expensive.
To replace the last two cost just about $900.
Tire insurance covered it and easily paid for itself.

I've seen a lot of questions about whether or not to get the insurance, with people having various opinions that seem to lean toward yes.

What I'm wondering is what are the options for coverage. Dealerships sell (expensive) packages, but there are other vendors out there. Who have people used, what has been your experience, what's the cost been, etc.?

(Have done some searching, but it seems like wading thru lots of do it-dont do it threads, with not very much actual data on the cost/insurer/etc)

Yes get the tire/wheel road hazard insurance, but buy it from The Auto Club (now called Paragon); $24.95 per year.

Excuse my french, but that warranty fucking sucks. Sorry, I'm ventilating right now.

Only three days ago I brought my car into the dealer because I heard leaking sounds coming from my right rear tire. I thought I was going to stop by the dealer and get that tire replaced free of charge, because there was a nail in it (and you can only have tires replaced as long as its because of nails or anything not related to reckless behavior).

Anyways, turns out that THREE tires had nails in em (TPM wasn't indicating that to me in the car), and that only ONE was replaceable under warranty. FUCK ME.

Apparently the rears were already past the tread point. I must've burned through them too quickly.

So I get ONE free front tire under warranty, and have to shell out 890 freakin dollars for both rears. I don't even understand how I had nails in three of my tires...

Think twice before getting it.

One pot hole and you'll wish you had the insurance. The runflats are not very sturdy tires, they can't handle abuse. and they are expen$ive tire$

Hell NO WAY! I'd have said "Okay, replace the one, I'll go and get the other two replaced or repaired on my own."

Any other options similar to this.. since this is not available in NY ??

My dealer wanted an additional $37/month for tire insurance...or a basically $1100 out of pocket in a 30 month lease...

if it was like 400 I Would do it.. but $1100 was to steep for me.. especially since it was 5 years coverage and I only have 30 months with the car

Wow that's a realllly goood price!
I think i pay like $5 a month. It's just added into my payments. That comes out to $60 per year but still sooo worth it.

That sucks but its your fault for letting your tires wear down so much.
Of course they can't replace everyone's tires when they're old and need replacing anyways. Its not a lifetime warrenty on tires.
And you should have told them to just replace the one tire and then but different tires for cheaper else wear.
How much did you pay for insurance?

They don't patch runflats and sell new ones at high cost to make money.
They do this as a favor to us.

Not only that but this insurance covers the wheel too!
Try hitting a bad pothole popping the tire and bending the wheel.
See how much that cost to replace.

lol I replaced two tires and working on a rim for 500 bucks you would have to live in cali where the roads are butter but here in boston its worth every penny and for the ppl who think the dealer is always trying to fuck em sorry for you when you are shelling over a 1000 to replace a tire and rim

I don't generally think any such warranties, even extended maintenance nor extended warranties are worth it. I somehow managed to get both tire and car protection packages, for the umpteenth time, I thought I was bluffing and told the finance manager I don't want it but maybe if you took $300 off I would take it blah blah blah and he called my bluff and gave me $300 off. Next time I would say nah take another $300 off I'll take it for $199. It's still be a rip-off!

So anyway I got the tire protection for $390 and the ding/chip/tear for $499. Never used the former in 17 mos., and used the ding once. I can't imagine someone dumber than I am spent $799 for the protection, the ding repair would have only been $125.
