I'm a little confused on parts for my 13 E92 N55..

Hello! I just purchased a 2013 335i M-Sport Coupe (E92/N55) last week. Love it so far. And for the purposes of this post the build date was 4/24/13.

Coming from the WRX world where years and models are pretty straightforward, I'm a little confused and hope someone can set me straight.

I've been researching different mods to do first and whatnot but keep running into a problem. The part I'm looking at will say F30/32 yet say 2012+ 335i. Or it will say E90/92 yet 2007-2012 for the years. For example, this one says F30/32 but also says 2012+ 335i included.

I would think the link below would fit my car but it says 07-12:

Can anyone steer this noob in the right direction?

A lot of online catalogs have this problem. The Coupe and Convertible E92/E93 continued into 2013, but the sedan F30 started in 2012.

Use realoem.com to find specific part numbers for your car.

Ok, gotcha. Thanks a ton! So when searching for aftermarket parts I should focus on if it says E92/N55, and not so much the year?

Exactly, although some motor parts will be usable on both chassis.

Awesome, thanks for the help. If I can ask another question, as far as tuning goes are most going with a JB4 or Accesssport for the E92/N55?

I'm not a 335i owner but from skimming over threads for a few years I believe JB4 And a new software called MHD are the favorites. Cobb accessport was ok years ago but I think it's outdated.

Theres a N55 sub section, probably get more help in there.

But some info for you as a fellow N55 owner

1. Tune, Use MHD, COBB AccessPort is dead on our platform and JB4 is crap old tech
2. Intercoolers are all the same fitment from a 2006 to 2013 335i E Series
3. Wagner is a good brand, you might also consider VRSF as they stock the 3 bolt ons you want, Downpipe, Charge Pipe and FMIC to go with MHD Stage 2+ flash

VRSF N55 CATLESS DOWNPIPE

VRSF STREET FMIC

VRSF RACE FMIC

VRSF CHARGE PIPE

N55 Charge pipe you don't need a BOV or DV, select none in that option

There is also the turbo outlet charge pipe but this isn't really needed.

VRSF N55 OUTLET CHARGE PIPE

Air Intakes are snake oil, they don't do anything for performance (For a stock N55 turbo), all they do is make induction noise louder, eg hearing the turbo spool, but you really need a MAF tune if you want to change the intake, otherwise you can have codes thrown.

Running Catless downpipe will throw codes, MHD flash fixes those codes

Super helpful, thanks a ton! Looks like I also have to send in my DME to get it unlocked.

bmw is a little different, they dont wait for model changes before introducing new engines.

some times a refresh can include new bumpers and tail lights and totally new engine.

you a have n55, its also used in the f30 and f22. it literally the same engine used in a different chassis. hence some parts can be use multiple chassis and yrs.

for example in the f30 they have a 335i with the n55 engine and a 340i with the b58 engine

i would recommend mhd. its a direct ecu flash similar to cobb but its done through your phone and its a lot cheaper. just your phone and $20 cable.

you will need to double check to see if your ecu is locked.

i believe the late model e92 n55, bmw put a physical lock to prevent ecu flashing.

if this is the case you need to remove the ecu to have it bench flashed to remove the lock
