I’m after a unicorn here. I have been looking for this car for a few weeks now but I have been unable to get my hands on one. I frequently check all national sales mediums with no luck. Just sold by E46 ZHP so now I am daily driving an E30 in the winter so I’m motivated to buy.

No beige interior
Less than 120k miles preferred
Anywhere on west half of US / willing to travel

$100 finders fee if anyone finds one local

Good luck, these cars rarely pop up for sale and when they do, are gone within days/weeks if priced well.

Yeah. There was one for sale on here in Florida but that is 3-4 days drive from me so it was a bit much. And another popped up in Utah on the 23rd but the dealer, and I called the same day it was listed on true car. But apparently someone had a deposit on it already and now it’s gone. Sold before the dealer even put it on their own website. :/

This is a nice car. Sadly it’s about 2500 miles away from me. Also no mention of maintenance. Thank you though!

Depends on what service paperwork the owner has. I would probably try to negotiate down some but I don’t think it’s too bad of a price really.

I'm not the OP but IMO, slightly overpriced given the presentation of the car. If he has service records, all the maintenance needs have been taken care of, good history, etc. I think it's on the high side of the normal range. FWIW, my friend just paid $15,500 for a similar car due to a few needs the car had. Cracked paint on the rear bumper, worn Chinese tires, etc. but same year, same trans, same color, etc.

I've used uship.com for transport twice now, both good experiences. With the current market, I think a nationwide search is a must. My car fits into your categories, going up for sale soon, but I'm on the east coast.

Thank you for the recommendation for shipping. This car is rare but it’s not that rare where I can’t find one out west. However shipping is not entirely out of the picture but the price has to be right to spend 2k on transportation.

I thought it would be 2k too, but it could be closer to 1k really. Once you make a listing, brokers will come in under the initially advertised price. I just paid 700 for a 1000 mile transport.
The bigger challenge is the logistics of paperwork, but it's doable.

That is interesting, but it does make a lot of sense. Again I appreciate your knowledge, as I have never needed to ship a car before. But as I am looking for a specific spec I understand that can complicate things. I would really prefer to see it before buying unless the seller was very helpful. Even cars from Bring A Trailer will come with a few surprises not listed on the ad.
The furthest I have traveled to get a car was 8 hours up to Oregon to pick up an 87' red E30 with 260k miles. Driving back in the rain with no wipers was a little dicey, but it was a steal.
So I'm just waiting around for one of these cars to pop up for sale.

Agree, a PPI would be needed, unless maybe there's an extended warranty in play. I bought whatever RWD manual daily driver I could find that was decent - first a 328i, then a 330i when someone rear-ended the 328 - to drive until the unicorn spec came along. It only took 4-5 years

4-5 years.. 0_0 I sure hope it doesn’t take me that long haha. Manual rwd bmws are the best car to daily drive. Keeps you connected and not bored no matter how far your drive is. Most other cars are great but they get boring to drive everyday for me.

For those interested: https://carsandbids.com/auctions/KPJ...bmw-335i-sedan. Kind of odd that the OFHG has not been replaced at such a high mileage and the owner seems a bit defensive when asked about bigger maintenance items that have not been completed.

Why do hey all have to be so far away I might still bid on this and get it cheaper and have it shipped. But I am concerned about ofhg and oil pan gasket for sure at that milage. I agree I’m that the owner seems defensive almost. And 5 owners already is a bit sketch.

That's my car. I just shared it on this site too but all the details are there.

It's only 4 owners, for some reason as sometimes happens, Carmax counted as an owner per carfax. So it was a new car, then bought after a trade-in to BMW, then my previous owner bought it from Carmax, then I bought it from him. But true, not ideal versus a 1 or 2 owner car, I get it.

The OFHG is dry, I'm surprised too and I've done them DIY myself before on an N52 so I'm no stranger to it, but in this case I chose to leave well enough alone. Oil pan gasket is not showing anything - a couple others have asked about that, and it might be worth me crawling under and pulling the belly pan off but dang if it isn't in the teens and 20s this week out here.

Defensive, I suppose I get how it could come off that way. But I only want to defend my reasoning and make sure it's understood that I'm not just blowing things off because I'm cheap, or hiding lurking problems.

That is interesting about the owners but it makes sense. I didn’t mean to come off abrasive on my comments for the car, mostly just reiterating the comments section on CaB. You have every right to be defensive, it is your car you are selling haha. I hate selling/buying cars, never a nice process. It is great that the engine is dry on the original gaskets, shows routine service but I just know it will need to be done soon enough. Especially if i buy it, California’s dry heat accelerates the degradation of anything rubber. GLWS. I’ll probably be in on the bidding

Yea I totally get it. If it were me looking at the car I'd be thinking the same thing - what's it likely to need in the near and medium term. Would be cool to sell it to an e90poster 👍
