Would you buy the Navigation system if...

After careful thought, I decided to not add the navigation system to my 328 sedan. Why ? I-Drive.

Having driven rear wheel drive stick shift cars for a long time, I am fairly confident of handling my car even in tricky situations, I feel that a computer (trying to do good) can only create a bad situation.

I love the RTTI feature, but I have decided to sacrifice the Nav system.

How many of you your there would buy (have brought) the Nav system if it were seperated from I-Drive ?

Um I-Drive has nothing to do with how the car handles. That has to do with DSC/DTC. I-Drive and Non I-Drive cars will handle the exact same.

Does I-Drive not try to correct you when you make a "mistake" ?

No.

If iDrive and Nav were two options, I would have skipped the Nav and just bought the iDrive. Love it. I wish there were more stuff I could configure.

no, idrive is only a function of the navigation system.

Would you change your vote now? I'm not a fan of the idrive, I like tech toys so I would probably get in to an accident messing with it...

Yeah I think you might be thinking of active steering. My girlfriend has an e60 530, and it has iDrive (which is standard on all 5 series) with no nav. Its difficult to figure out at first, but I think its pretty convenient when you get the hang of it.

Idrive is great, even if you are worried about messing around its not a big deal, i do most of the functions via voice commands

Other way around. Navigation system is a function of the iDrive. iDrive integrates the navigation, climate, entertainment, and communications systems into a semi-coherent package in addition to being the interface to the OBC.

I ordered my E91 with Nav & IDrive. I consider both to be desirable. I'm "in to" the technology.

you made a huge mistake IMO. The I-Drive is my feature in my car. I hate cars with buttons now. I guess I am just used to it

This is one of the biggest problems about I-drive -- Massive misunderstandings about what it does

I get it daily

Exactly! Most of the skeptics about I-Drive don't even know how to use it.. how can you say you hate it when you don't even know anything about it?
