Meth substitution, any experience?
Ok this might sound funny for the American fellas but meth is not really available in Russia, all we have is the rivers of vodka ;-)) and meth is toxic by the way.. so my question is can I run alcohol/water mix using famous meth systems from the Shiv or other vendors? Is it going to be as beneficial as a meth/water mix? Main reason to do this is to keep my valves clean and I have proceed already so why not?

335vi Vodka Injection LOL
Back to the topic, I remember I read somewhere that ethanol's octane rating is much lower than that of Methanol. So by substituting, you would get the cooling benefit but not the raising octane benefit. Anyone can verify what I just said?

denatured alcohol = low octane
Methanol is the best, you could try to buy it from an shop that sells remote controled mini cars... those engines run on a methanol... In my country it is also quite difficult to get meth but I found two routes to get it: - Shop mentioned above - Chemical distributer Nice info about ratings: http://www.cdxetextbook.com/aseartic...lmethanol.html

Lab cans are about 30-40 euro per 5 litre but are way to pure, so you pay for unused quality

Denatured alcohol has been proven to perform just as good as pure methanol. However, the price per gallon is higher. Here is a good article: http://www.alcoholinjectionsystems.c...icle_info.html However, another solution can be windshield washer fluid mixed with bottles of heet which is 99% methanol. Quote:

I run always alcohol (denaturated or for camping burners) and battery water.
Meth is to much of an hassle to get. I can buy all that while putting gas in the car.

I have a friend in Norway who went through this problem. Here's how he solved it:
Contact all performance shops in your area. If one is a meth distributor, problem solved. If not, ask if they are able to get a hold of it. Often performance shops will have the paperwork necessary to buy controlled substances. Turned out that one close to my friend's house was able to buy it. He pays a little more than we do here in the U.S. But not that much more. |

If you know other people that need methanol you can order a large drum and split the cost from VP. Quote:
