See, thats the problem with RWD... traction is limited most of the time in everyday driving, and with more power even dry conditions can be traction limited from a stop.

Yes is it is very cool to have AWD in the rain, because you can stomp on the gas, and still have traction, even from a stop... But of course AWD isn't really needed if you live in an area where it doesn't snow, and you don't mind spinning in the rain, but the OP lives on the east coast where it probably does snow. And you've got to be joking with your comment on how RWD can launch just as well as AWD??? LOL Maybe at a drag strip with slicks, otherwise there is no way in hell the RWD launches as good as the AWD!

After barely surviving a winter with a g35 (with an LSD) on brand new blizzaks and even adding different sized sand bags in the trunk, I've been driving awd with snow tires ever since. It's just not worth it to risk my family's life so I can race someone from a roll only in perfect weather conditions. Man up and go from a dig while the rwd guy prays he can hook

And to the guys worrying about the transfer case, I've never read anything on here about one exploding. I think as more xi guys push the envelope you will see how strong this drivetrain is. Meanwhile the single turbo rwd guys can't get traction in any gear. Open differential ftl. It's all about putting the power to the ground

I have literally beaten the hell out of my xi. Many many many brake boosted launches in first and second gear. Hell I was flooring the car with 300 miles on it. Now at 71000 miles and still mechanically sound, no problems other than bad gas mileage from having too much fun shaming all sorts of RWD cars around town that cant figure out how I jump so far ahead of them to the next light around town while they sit and spin their tires.

I am beginning to think that a few xi's TC stories have been badly exacerbated.

You're going to be disapointed. The difference really isn't noticable unless you're clocking it at the track.

I rock Nokian in the winter though. I don't think there's any comparison. The Hakka's are simply the best snow tire I've been on.

I told him the same thing,he won't be much faster n IMO its not worth trading his car in for a rwd

I guess time to race 1Lumi one day which we sort of have the same mods just me being an XI to see where i stand...lol'

But i see RB turbos in my future; within the year/next, and again being an AT and an XI i will still be scared shitless to push it unless i do a level 10 at upgrade, so i was trying to trade and possibly get an MT RWD... I will keep it during the summer though and if anything i'll try and trade/sell during the winter when XI's are in somewhat demand.

So run low boost daily and don't beat the piss out of the car. "Sparingly" is the key.

FWIW, I run Map 2 daily (14.5 psi tapering to 11 or something) with CPS on, no meth. Timing looks great, no timing flatline, and pulls pretty well.

watch out from Lumi he's been experimenting lately saw him boosting 17psi on e85 so it won't be fair lol
PS if u do run Meto make sure u race from a dig no matter how much he insists from a roll dig or nothing, map 2 ull loose but if u could get e85 on map 5 ull have a chance

That's nice, but that proves nothing.
Are both cars bone stock? Or do they have mods? What were the conditions? I'm guessing the roads were dry and they're both stock. If thats case the RWD probably would win the race since stock cars hardly have enough power to even spin the tires! And if your friend knew how to drive/launch his car, you would lose from a 0-60mph every time regardless of the conditions!

No offense but from a dig an evenly modded xi vs i, the xi should keep the lead up till at least 80-90mph.

A lot of xi's are running 1.6-1.7 60s at the track. Without dedicated tires, an i isn't going to have a chance in the first 60.

Honestly... With posts like this, replete with poor detail, zero substance, you represent yourself horribly unfavorably and your opinion is given little if any regard.

... "Oh. Well Beemw335 has an i and his friend has an xi and he said 'i always wins.' End of discussion guys"

Priceless contribution my friend.

I visually checked everything i cant really see anything, and i barely have the time to take my car apart so i just made an appt nearby to have this shop do a complete diagonstics/smoke test on tuesday. It seems like a small leak because i'm boosting fine per my p3 boost gauge, just when i go wot and reach 110mph+ i occasionally go into a limpmode, hpfp was replaced late last year, unless my turbos are starting to go kaboom, then time for RB's or another car 335i + RBs...lol

Stock for stock I won multiple times in different weather conditions.
Even with tunes I won off the line. I have 275 conti dw tires in the rear so traction isnt much of an issue.
At the track I outlaunch an f10 550xdrive and beat him in the 1/4
My xi friend lost that race. And please dont say driver error, an automatic xi isnt hard to launch.
We both have exact same mods.
