New Brembo GT's

Hey guys,

Got myself a new set of brembo 6/4 gt's and was wondering if the noise when coming to a stop or firmer braking normal? Its pretty hard to describe but it kinda sounds like a vibration/drone which can be distinctly heard in the cabin, and definitely louder than stock brakes.

The stopping power is definitely noticeable despite being in the break-in phase but I don't feel the braking power being very linear. I've driven other cars with big brakes(either modded or stock) and the feedback and response from the brakes tend to be very consistent. Many would use the term progressive, however in this case the braking power seems light on 20% pedal depression, stock braking power at 50-60% and more bite at 70% and above. What i'm trying to say is that the consistency of the braking power isn't very linear with pedal depression.

My main concern is that could this be due to reasons such as the hoses not being bled properly, brake fitment, break-in period etc, or simply me being sensitive.

Hope to get some feedback from peeps here with BBK's fitted! Btw, they simply look awesome and would like to share some pics with you guys (:

Cheers!

I've actually driven probably less than 50miles on them at the moment, so I assume that they're not bedded in properly yet? Will take the car out again soon and feedback if I notice any difference (:

Sometimes with drilled rotors the pads clack around in the calipers especially when they are not fully bedded. It's more common with slotted but I imagine that it could be happening to you.

Thanks for the reply, guess most of this issue is due to the bedding in process (:

I could be misunderstanding the noise you're describing, but a lot of high performance brakes will make a lot of different noises when coming to a stop and I've always thought it to be pretty normal. For instance a friend of mine drives a c6 z51 Corvette (off topic: LG coilovers and long tube headers on his car are supreme. Haha) and his brakes have always made a sort of slight vibration accompanied with what sounds like the pads slipping across the rotors when it's coming to a stop.

Car looks amazing btw. Wheels look great, what model bbs are those?

You need to put a few hundred miles on the brakes to seat them fully in my past experiences. Also alot of aftermarket pads are not going to have the initial bite that the oem pads tend to have. If they were not bled properly you would have a spongy break pedal.

Same color combo as my car

I don't get any noise when coming from a stop, even after trackdays. But you probably have to put on more miles on the brakes before you can tell for sure.

Same goes for the pedal feel. It will probably change after the break-in period is over. Maybe you find them non-linear because the feel is very different from the stock brakes.

its prob the dimples causing the noise, same with slots, its not a completely flat surface for the pads to make contact with

who cares how they work!...it looks bad ass lol. on my previous car with a bbk(8/6 pot ksport) i ran one size larger master cylinder to compensate for the larger/volume/surface area/piston. I didnt even break them in properly, they worked flawlessly without any noise.

Pedal modulation was great..basically i got more braking output with less pedal input/effort. Far with your noise try brushing up some anti seize on the pad/gliding surface where it rides on the caliper, this works every time for me.
