BMW 320D ED fan blower timer

Hi everyone

I have noticed that my car has a setting where I can set a time for the blower to start. So for example in the morning I can set the blower to start at a specific time.
However What I am not sure how exactly it works.
I can set the time and the blower starts but then I left the car closed for more than 5 minutes, when I came back the blower was still running.
How long does the blower run for? isn't there a setting so that I can specify a time?

Thank you in advance.
