Another ex colleague (male) had the surname Duckworth: known as Vera.
Present colleague knew a guy he used to work with whose surname was Love, he was known as Bum. Another ex colleague of mine surname Storey, known as Multi Guy I knew in an old job was (honestly) called Ventura, so he obviously became Ace Love this thread |

Went to uni with a guy called Alan Reid.
We used to call him by his anagram --> anal ride.

Just remembered the news/weather presenter on 2FM (Irish radio) is called Avril Hoare. In fact she is A. Hoare
Would love to call in and say.... 'Could you get me A. Hoare please?' Still makes me laugh some mornings

This thread is brilliant- well done Carlos
Reminds me of the back page of the New Scientist magazine which used to print the names of researchers in various fields with appropriate/amusing names. I remember one example well: a pair of urologists who published research on incontinence together: J.W. Splatt and D. Weedon I just about pissed myself when I saw that one

Currently work with a Chris Peacock - known as either Seapy Cock or Chrispy Cock.
Also work with Adam Gay - not bad but email address policy at work used to be initial of first name followed by surname - agay@------.com. He asked to have it changed for months before we relented. Knew a guy who named his son Gideon Oswald Donaldson, lad turned out alright eventually. Reminds me of that Johnny Cash song - "The Boy Named Sue". |

We have also had a Dr Tanaka (who I think was also the name of a character in a James Bond film).

Found the thread at last! A couple of updates:
In my line of work the trick with nicknames is to take a surname and make a phrase or famous name by changing the christian name, hence 'Multi' Storey and 'Vera' Duckworth. Anyway, we've got a new guy arriving soon whose surname is Crayon. He's already known as Waxy A friend of mine's GF had a new girl join where she worked, whose surnme was Stone. The girl said "they used to call me Sharon where I worked before". Mate's GF replied "Not here they won't Twenty Last but not least I was recently introduced to someone with the surname Thirtle. I spent the whole time giggling childishly and trying to avoid calling her Ninja |
