Pre-lci e90 LED turn signals

I've searched and can't find to much info

I have a 2006 e90, I want to change the turn signal bulbs in the headlights to LEDS. Do I need 1157 or 7507?

eBay has some led bulbs, some are pretty big is their a length restriction ?

do I buy any type of resistors for the bulbs or are their special ones needed ?

Do I still have to code the car ?

How about the signal light bulbs ok the fenders do they need resistors ,

Thanks!

x2 for answer. you will likely still have to code the car though.

I'm curious for headlights AND taillights.

I heard 2006 are the worst years regarding bulb out errors

might as well add all the questions how about the reverse bulbs ?

As of right now, I know for a fact there is no vendor that sells this. It would have to be custom done if possible, not ordered

if you can't find a 7507, you could modify an 1156 bulb to fit. Don't get 1157 as they are dual contact.
I believe resistors are not needed once the car has been coded.
The fender signals don't need resistors. any led bulb would fit but would flicker on start up.
I just ordered a set of bulbs that was mentioned on the forum off ebay and will be doing a review when they get here.

there's no LED out that exceeds stock light output while fitting into the housing. HIDs would be the only option. search Dimsum

Are these brighter than the stock lights?

I've seen 7507's but most other than white don't put out much light in comparison to stock.

I just love the instant firing that LEDs have. Its crisp on and off characteristics are what have my attention.

I've coded my turns signal checks out, but I haven't tested any LEDs on them yet.

I replaced my front light assemblies completely then coded out any potential bulb checks to prevent errors.

lol yeah there's a lot of LED's but its still not that bright, but does look good. And when you go to the site click on the 7507 7228 & 7225 bulbs and then look only for the 7507 bulbs and there should be an option to add to cart.

They're not really brighter than the stock ones, but like you said they have that nice crisp on and off and just look better.

I found some bulbs on khoalty.com

120 LEDS they are switchbacks so they are amber and white led. They can stay steady amber and blink white or vise versa !

Sent them a email with some questions

I bought alot of LEDs from them for my e46 they were bright ! but I didint have to worry about errors so just asked them some questions about the resistors

Hmm everywhere I'm looking, it looks like the general consensus is that stock 1156's put out roughly 400 lumens.

Khoalty does seem to make bigger promises than other sources so far, with their regular LED 1156/7507 quoted to put out 360 lumens, and their switchback bulbs putting out more than 400 lumens.

Tempted to try them out...

I personally think THESE look promising..

^E60 5 series pre-LCI requires 7507's too. If this guy was able to use these 1156's, I think theres a good chance we can too.

I ordered the amber only ones.

I'll do a quick review on them once I get them. Note, my car is coded to not check for resistance on any bulbs in my headlights and taillights though, so I can't attest to any codes they could throw.

Apparently they have a 30 day return policy, less shipping costs :/ but certainly worth an effort. I ordered the 1156/7506's. I don't think I've seen any other LED bulbs perform as well yet.

Hopefully these live up to the videos on youtube lol.

Stay tuned

Smile ijdm

I bought these:
http://store.ijdmtoy.com/40-SMD-S25-...5-or-sku36.htm
They are exceptionally bright and easily visible as turn signals. I am impressed by both the brightness of the forward facing LEDs as well as the remainder, which reflect off the inside of the housing nicely. The 1156 version works just fine with our cars, you just have to file down one of the stubs on the side of the bulb. I know this sounds a little shady but it fits perfectly once you do this. Since these do not have built in resistors I add them separately for an extra $5. After this they did not throw any codes.

*I would not advise buying the 18 LED version! I bought these perviously (in amber) and was not comfortable with the brightness.

*Swithback LEDs usually utilize the 1157 bulb types because they have dual contacts on the bottom. This bulb type (1157) will not work!

*In case you find a switchback bulb type that does work (which I haven't): Keep in mind that switchback bulbs only light up half of the LEDS at a time, so a 60 LED switchback will be about as bright as a 30 LED bulb.

*Lastly, for those of you who are thinking about getting bulbs with 60+ LEDs, remember to read the width dimension! Some of these will not fit inside the headlight housing.

Hope this helps!
