Cobb Stage 1 + Down Pipe

Okay guys, so I have my new Cobb AP and I finally got the Aggressive map loaded on! I also have an AR 4" down pipe sitting in my closet waiting to go on the car as soon as I finish up some warranty work.

The only thing is that one of the guys over at Cobb recommended I not put the down pipe on my car if I'm running the Stage 1 maps. He suggested waiting until they have a map out made for down pipes.

I really want to put this on the car, but not if it causes issues. I do not see what issues could possibly be created, but would love to have some opinions before I go bolting it on.

I think the only issue you might have is the cel light can go off in your car because I dont think COBB deletes the code for aftermarket downpipes yet for the n55 if im not mistaken.

The CEL will stay on your dash & the tune is not dialed in to maximize the gains of a catless DP. Ironically enough, you'd see more results with the current maps available with an aftermarket FMIC

Mine threw a DP code today and it cleared the code without a problem though i didn't install any maps because my ECU isn't supported yet

I would assume its for the lack of wastegate control with no cats where you could over boost. I tune Mazdaspeeds and I know that if you don't run the right maps with them the car loves to overboost and just run havoc. But theres a shit load of other reasons not to run the carless without the map because of fuel issues, timing, and shit whatever else.

Yes, overboost was the reason they mentioned when I was up at Cobb picking up the AP.

Yea overboosting in these motors just seems like a horrible idea and with no cat and no tune would just make that turbo scream.

Guess my downpipe is gonna sit in the closet until cobb blesses us with a Stage 2 set of tunes Should've bought a FMIC first

Is over boost really an issue with our turbos on moderate boost levels? Could this also be an issue with a stock car + downpipe as the only mod?

Maybe a stupid question for when Stage 2 is available.

So it's my understanding that we have to run (what will likely be) stage 2 to take advantage of DP and delete any codes due to catless. So what happens when we uninstall COBB for dealership visits? Will the car have CEL codes or anything?
