RFT tyre pressures
I noticed recently that one of my front tyres was wearing quite badly on the inner and outer edges of the OEM Bridgestone RFT's fitted to my car.
Went to the local petrol station, dropped a few pennies into the air pump to find out what was going on and found the following: Front nearside: 29psi Front offside: 28psi (this was the one wearing the worst, most likely as it's the most underinflated) Rear nearside: 30psi Rear offside: 30psi All were @ 'cold' running temperature. Obviously I'm a bit miffed I'd not noticed this before but hindsight is a wonderful thing. I was on my phone at the time and the only info I could find was to do the following: Inflate front tyres to 32psi Inflate rear tyres to 35psi So that's what I've inflated them up to for now. Not sure if these are the right tyre pressures anyway so thought I'd ask here....so if I've still got more inflating to do....how much more do I need? I've read a few articles and I see some recommending as much as 38psi to front and rear...what are your views?

The BMW suggested pressures are on the plate on your door jam. They will have the range of tyres and specs for your model.
That should give you a starting point. D.

I purchased a inexpensive electronic pressure gauge from ebay - keep it in the car . no excuse for keeping an eye on the tyre pressures now

how do you get to own a 335D and not know what your tyre pressure should be. Everyone should check their tyre pressures regularly... I check mine most weeks. Some cars I have owned have never lost any pressure some loose air constantly without a puncture or a cracked/dented wheel. I also keep a pressure gauge and pump in my cars at all times.

Is there an exam when you buy a 335D then? Might be best I only have a 325i, as I'd probably have failed!!

I have the same problem - both my front tires are each worn both on the inner and outer part of the tire. The middle part of the tire looks good, but the outer parts are worn (could be from cornering? although i haven't driven the car hard at all).
Noticed the same problem looking at other cars. Don't know what could cause this, tire pressure was always good (specified values on the driver door). Running on OE Continental SSR. Rear tires look good, so only the fronts have this issue.

No exam just a bunch of idots driving around without checking their tyre pressure. What I was implying is that you would think that by the time you own a 335D you might have learnt a thing or 2 about driving/safety etc. I suppose its possible that this is their first car and they have only just got the L plates but a bit unlikely. I was told to check my oil and tyre pressures before I got my provisional license its just dangerous not to check them. However I did read the other post that was started by the same person and thought must be a wind up I don't normally like to bash people on forums but some people shouldn't be on the road and if you don't realize that you have been driving around with your stagered wheels on the wrong axle then you should definately take the bus
