Detailed: 06 330i Jet Black - Menzerna/Zaino results
I started at about 9:00am with a wash.
My process with my brand new flex was going to be: Zaino Clay Bar Orange pad/Menzerna SIP White pad/Menzerna 106FF Black pad/Menzerna PO85RD LSP with Zaino Z5 and then a coat of Z8 I picked up my Jet Black 06 330i back in March and the prior owners had no clue how to take care of the cars paint whatsoever. The paint was in really bad shape. Lots of spider-webbing and some scratches. In the sunlight you could tell someone used a buffer on it and didnt know what they were doing because of the buffer trail holograms in the paint. I bought it knowing I could/would correct the paint. Here are some before pics: After washing and drying I started with the SIP. Just to note I have never done any kind of paint correction with a any type of random orbital. I have been researching and studying youtube videos for months now. After doing 4 2'x2' on the hood I realized this was going to be some hard work to removed 100% of the scratches. I probably should have done 2 or 3 passes with the SIP on every panel. I found myself getting a bit impatient to be honest. After further research afterwards I probably should not have gone full blast on level 6 and should have just worked at 4 or 5. I found the polish to be drying out too quickly. I had contemplated just stopping and paying someone else to finish the job. My back was already in pain and having it on a lift or at least 4 jack stands would have helped tremendously. After a 30 min break I decided to push on and at least finish the SIP correction on the entire vehicle. After finishing I tested one panel on the trunk with the 106FF and without actually getting 100% of the scratches I didnt see a need at this point to finish the last 2 steps with the Menzerna. I did find it pretty easy to use the Flex and am excited to keep learning its ins and outs. I put a very thin coat of Z5 on the entire vehicle (windows, lights, wheels, everything). Waited about 30 min and removed that and then put on a thin layer of Z8 on the whole vehicle. I must say it turned out very well and I am happy with the appearance. Super slick and super wet looking. I have used Zaino in the past with great results. All of the holograms are gone and its just the deeper micro-scratches that are left which I will work on this coming spring. After pics: You can see below that the deeper scratches didnt come out: |

Looks really good! I always love black cars, sometimes I even wish I stuck with black instead of getting silver, but not as much when I see those before pics!

Trust me I tried to find a silver when I was looking. Couldnt pass up the deal I go on this one from an older couple. They obviously had no clue how to take care of the paint but I knew I could fix it when I bought it.

Looks AWESOME!!! Nice job especially for your first time with the Flex. You can always refine out those deeper scratches later.

Yeah if the car I found would have been black, I would have still got it! Yours probably looked like that from a few too many dealer washes. But at least you got it all cleaned up now!

Looks great man!
There's no way I would have been able to go more than a week before buffing that out. JB FTW. |

Looks great. I never thought I'd go with black either b/c of maintenance. But, knowing that it looks fantastic once detailed properly, I am happy I ended up choosing BSM.

Very nice work. I did the same to my car a few weeks ago, and I always love how the car looks the month or two after a polish. It's like it has a halo around it, it's glowing. Mine was not in nearly as bad shape as yours, though. You did a very nice turnaround!
That PO85RD really finishes great. I thought that 106FF finished well until I tried the 85RD. Really, really nice stuff. Glad to see your first time with the Flex went so well.

Since then I have managed to get 2 more coats of Z5 and Z8 on there. Smooth as a babies butt... Love the Menz/Zaino combo. |

Excellent work!!!
Next time to get to 100% or very close to it - use wool pad first. It will get dusty but who cares?
