I've seen some Advan caps, but they stick up a little, and they don't have any that are painted gunmetal. I could get some and either coat them or paint them to match.

Where are the ricer shops around here anyway? I haven't a clue....

I don't think they'll fit. The opening in the Advans are 73mm, while the OEM's are around 70mm. I thought most rep caps were ~68mm. So we are going the wrong direction here.....

No kidding. Today I spent a good two hours painting the rusty hubs with Duplicolor's Caliper paint kit (black.) I tried a can of BBQ paint that I had, but it must have been ancient because it wasn't sticking at all. Enamel paint does have a shelf life apparently!

The Duplicolor stuff works, but it doesn't look great when you get real close. But, it is far better than the silver mixed with orange rust look it had before! Now I've got so much caliper paint left over I'm thinking about painting the calipers black too (blend in behind the wheels.)

I'd love a BBK, but I can't see spending that much coin for something that would really be just cosmetic. I'm not likely to ever really tax the stock braking system hard enough to warrant the upgrade to Brembo or StopTech. I'd hate to to go total poseur and paint the stock calibers something flashy like red or yellow.

black caliper looks great and subtle... i've had done on LEXUS which was my previous car and it actually looked really good. only downside is it takes too much time cleaning/painting, but that may just be me because i did 3 coats of brush painting on all four calipers after taking the calipers totally apart from the car to paint the whole thing...

i personally think painting stock caliper red or yellow is just plain hilarious too... way to make $50k car to be like honda civic or vw golf, gti, r32 whatever... and yeah... stock braking system is good enough for everyday use. so I totally agree with you on that...

hope everything works out for you... if you are coming to meet on august 2nd, i can perhaps get some tips from you about painting calipers...

....again, Tightntidyracing!
They are pretty close to that address. They operate out of their home and Karl is experience and has good machinery in his garage. Oh, and the price is right!

Also, as James said, support your local grass root racers!!!

On that note,
I finally got my tires in and I'm getting them mounted tomorrow @ noon!!!

275/19/30 rear

Iforge doesn't give you an ET but the rear has a 4" lip ...2" in the front. I'm guessing 34mm or 36mm in the rear. I guess I could have done a measurement but I was too lazy.

Rims are: 8.5" fronts and 10" in the rear

Even if I dropped it an inch I don't think I would rub.

i'm experiencing some vibrations @60+mph. Karl is out of town so I went to discount tire on bothell-everett hwy. They re-balance the tire to 0 .....I still had some vibrations??? I had them do the balance and rotation twice and still I have the same vibrations!

anyone know what it can be??? I don't think it's the rims...maybe the tires???

Did they check the wheel for excessive runout? I had vibrations in mine after mounting at Discount in Bellevue (GSP9700 machine.) I took it to the Discount near me for a re-balance (GSP9200 machine) and they got it to zero. It was smooth as glass up to 100 MPH (highest speed I tested.) Before, anything over 80 MPH was terrible. I don't know how Discount Bellevue got it so wrong, but my boys in the Renton Highlands got me squared away.

But they did notice a little "bump" in one of the rear wheels. It was still within "spec" to balance though, so it was fine. Took 4 oz on that wheel to get it to zero (yikes!) I don't think the RFTs help matters either.

The only other possible cause is that the wheels aren't hub-centric. I highly doubt that though. But then again, I thought I read that IForge sometimes has issues with excessive runout....

....forgive me for being a dumbass..but what is excessive runout?
I saw that the guys @ discount tire get all wheels to zero and still the vibrations start at about 60mph.

Hmmm I wonder if you're just feeling the the tires. Those Invos have pretty wide tread blocks that would grab all over the place.
