Fannying around!
I had a request from over the pond for a sound clip of the exhaust on the car.
So I stuck the HD GoPro on the back bumper (tied in through the boot) and went for a hoon. It's far from an interesting vid,and I'm far from convinced it conveys what's intended, but hey ho! Note: It's a tractor, not a petrol car |

Excellent resolution. You must be doing 80-90MPH in this video

It's only got 32k on the clock,so with the new MSport some way off on the horizon it's a keeper for now, although if the new MSport is not an improvement on what I've seen so far,it might be with me for a lot longer. As in a dog? |

That sounds vicious!
My favourite E92 of the forum - colour, wheels, brakes, performance, stance - it's got the lot!

Sounds awesome Ian and car looks like it goes like stink too!! Have to say i do agree with the comments above - i love how your mods are always subtle and in keeping but always very effective - good work Sir! I might try filming the same style clip with my Contour 1080HD when ive had my Non-Res Milltek fitted next week!!!

Sorry but I think you might have to do that again to do the car some justice.
Sounded nice on tickover, and in the last bit when pootling off boost, otherwise too much turbo & other noise. Maybe from inside the car and a drive-by would be better?? My main complaint about my (standard) one is that it's too quiet and smooth - needs a bit of a rasp I think. Your tickover had a raw edge, which was good, but I do hope it sounds better in the metal! I've got some different back boxes waiting in the garage for mine to come out of the warranty! Mike |

A picture of you draped over the bonnet in some strappy lace number would be much better I think Ian.

It's very difficult to record the sound, too close to the source (as in the vid) it's drowned out by other noises, too far away and it doesn't register at all. I'll try a vid from inside the cabin, and a drive by,but the noise is only truely heard whilst underload and @ about 1800rpm. It's interesting to note your comments about your new back boxes,I'm not sure what you're hoping to achieve with them,I doubt they'll do anything to make the car sound better (I'm hoping to be proved wrong of course),and they won't do anything to improve the performance. I don't want to appear as negative with the above comments, but after much research and experimentation on exhausts over the years,I never came across a system that offered a better sound, coupled with a proven increase in power that was as effective as a straight through exhaust system. Why are you waiting for the warranty to expire? What could BMW possibly void on your warranty by changing the exhaust? |
