I think my Hifi amp is dying?

I've owned my car for about a 2 years now and i never even knew that their were subs in the car till i bought my x5. I thought the subs were part of a better system. Turns out my e93 has the hifi system in it and subs. The subs did work, but they were barley hitting at all so i replaced them with

Rockford Fosgate amplifier PBR300X2
SWS-8Xi Subs

I ran speaker wire from both subs to the back to the trunk into the amplifier hi level inputs, then i ran 2 new sets of wires back to the new subs. The audio was perfect at this point. The only reason i think its the amplifier going out (or had started to when i got the car since i never felt any bass what so ever) is that the day that the subs stopped working i had just started driving and had the audio real low (like 1/4 of the total volume level) and the subs just cut out and never came back. So then i put the oem subs back on, but they didn't make any sound at all anymore. Before they moved a little bit with the volume up both subs probably sounded like 1 6in speaker in terms of bass. I think the oem amp was already going out but finally has at least on 2 channels.

Right now the rockford amp turns on (i also got a new one thinking it was this amp) and it can output a little bass to the passenger sub only. It only works with the gain in the middle when i turn it up or down the sub turns off completely. When turn the car on the passenger sub works but when i start the car the sub turns off.

I do have another thought that if i had a dying battery the car wouldn't turn off the subs on its own to save battery power would it? I did get the battery icon a few times over the last few weeks... I haven't driven long distances which might be why. I did drive 60 miles yesterday and the low battery symbol never came back but the subs still don't work. I figured this car is all electronic so if the car had a bad battery it would be smart enough to turn off (un needed power drains) like the outputs to the subs only...

If thats not possible does anyone know if the oem amp from my e93 is the same as an e90 or e92 hifi amp? I plan to buy a replacement from ebay since this seems to be all thats left in figuring this out.

Thanks.

Thanks for the advice but id rather just replace the stock amp. That way when i sell the car it'll have a working system. I'm also happy with the way the stock system sounded, I just wanted some more bass and got that before the problems came up. I'm not an audiophile type of person. I don't need the perfect sound lol. I just wanted to be able to feel the subs hit which the setup allowed. I'm also fine with the hifi setup in my x5 (not the best but sounds way better than the e93) since the subs actually work. If the stock setup was the same in the e93 I wouldn't have ever bothered to upgrade. At this point the only easy fix is a new oem amplifier.

I just need to know if all the e90, e92, e93, 328, 335, 2007-2012 amplifiers are the same before i order one from ebay.

Putting in an amp with a technic harness

Putting in an amp with a technic harness is totally reversible
it only requires the flip of a lever on the amp connector .
In addition there is an amp on off control line good for multiple amps.
The amps are the same up to 2010 then after that they look different
silver case after 2010 don't know if they are electrically different.
