Dang I didn't even notice the tires. They do look a little small?

Anyway, those look a little too bright. Almost washed out? Maybe it's the picture but you can't see much definition in the inside rings?

Hi,

Apologies if the answer to my question is somewhere in this extensive tread.

I would like to upgrade the lights on my e90 2006. I like OSS best in looks. But why do you need to ship them back and forth to Miami? I don't quite like the fact that they 'mess around' with my stock lights vs just having new stuff installed. Maybe I interpret it wrong. How legit are are they? They look amazing though

I also really loves these http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=415710. What comes close enough for 2006 e90?

Thanks

Kaspar

OSS needs to cut your stock headlights open to install the rings. Cut because BMW now uses an epoxy which can't be softened and worked open.

Is that with other brands not the case?

From my understanding, the headlight assemblies in older BMWs utilize a special type of glue to secure the clear lens to the reflector side. This glue, when heated in an oven, becomes pliable and, with care and finesse, the two halves can be coaxed apart. This technique is called "baking" your headlights because you literally bake them in an oven. Baked headlights can then be resealed using a similar type of glue... pretty much the same as stock when done.

BMW started using an epoxy to seal the halves together in their newer cars. The epoxy does not soften when heated, so people like OSS have to CUT your lenses to get them apart (I believe they use a Dremel). Because of this, there is no foolproof way to seal the two halves back together. Maybe they use SuperGlue (or epoxy?) to get the pieces stuck together, but the consensus is that they then apply a bead of silicone around the cut to make a watertight seal.

I was *just* about to send my headlights to OSS when I discovered that they would be cut open (this was back in June 2013). There is no way I'm going to let anyone take a saw to my still-new 2011 E90 LCI headlights. Nope, not an option. So I cancelled my order and installed some LUX Angel Eye LEDs instead. Yeah, they're not as bright at the OSS solution, but they're bright enough for me. And now that all of the new 2013/14 BMWs are shipping with those insanely bright angel eyes, well, I think my dimmer AEs look better.

Got it. Helps tons!!! Thanks
Mine is a 2006. Is that still considered 'new', as in having to cut them?

For e90 Lux 5 would probably come closest?

I'm not sure about 2006. You might want to contact OSS and ask how they open up the headlight.

Great post, love seeing the different options to choose from, I'm actively looking to upgrade my headlights, I really do not like the halogen headlights on my car, now with that said, are there any plug and play headlights out there? I've seen so many on ebay and to be honest I've been reading many horror stories regarding installation of after market halos. In a nutshell I do not want any codes thrown for installing new lights and I'd like to ask your opinions on who makes the best halo projectors? I'm seeking a more cleaner and true BMW look. I've been told Depo and Orion make great kits and last but not least, who can install and is a reputable shop to deal with, I'm in South Jersey. thanks for reading and helping me out.

You have the same car as I do. Here's what I did: Bought OEM Euro LCI xenons from the german Ebay. Bought Osram CBI bulbs for the projectors from Lightwerkz and when they're ready, I'm getting them to put in Orion V4s for the rings and do a custom paint job. Check out what they did for Jake @ ProtuningFreaks link. Basically what I'll get them to do.

I also installed a FRM2 and coded the angel eyes as DRLs and Welcome Lights.

@ kisho, thanks for the reply, I like what I saw on the link you gave me, it seems a bit involved but I need to upgrade these lights and fast, how much did you spend if you don't mind me asking.

Send me a pm. I'm not sure how much of a rush you're in, but they get pretty busy. Depending how much work a person wants, it's usually around a week. Painting anything will obviously take longer, especially because they want it to be perfect.

Just to let you know, Lightwerkz is even more north for me, I live in Maryland. That makes it a 4hr drive for me, so that should tell you how amazing they are.

I visited their shop, it's pretty simple, just a 4 man crew, including the owner Ceasar. There's pics of their shop below. BTW, Ceasars m3 is a beast.

it was multicolors. But I was not very satisfied with them. After 30days I got back 70% money back. I had always good experience with umnitza until last purchase. Maybe only bad luck.
