Part #3 in realoem diagram?

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...16&hg=31&fg=10

I'm looking to replace my GC plates with oem strut mounts and trying to figure out which parts I need. Can anyone tell me what part #3 in the diagram is? No description..

It is not used on your car. Those illustrations are normally general and apply to many different cars. That part appears to be a spacer that is used in different models of the 3-series.

Basically, if the part is not listed in realoem.com when you are searching using your serial number (last 7 of your VIN) then it isn't on your car.

Actually, he will need #3
That is a plate between the strut mount and the strut tower.
All models have it.

vwfetish is 100% correct. When I replaced suspension on my E90, those little plates were there. They were about 5mm thick. I still have them in my garage somewhere...

Shoot! How do I find the p/n? I sold my last suspension with the struts fully assembled. I wonder id the Dinan camber plates replace this plate?

The dinan camber plates are 10mm thick, so they will be at least double the thickness. At this point, I think your best bet is to search the classifieds or hit up a local junk yard.

Search classifieds for what? I don't have a p/n or term. If the Dinan camber plate does replace that part, that'd work as I want to raise the car anyway.

This OEM plate really does not have a part number, so you would not search the classifieds by that. You might get lucky if you search for someone selling various OEM suspension components and is willing to sell you just those plates.

Yes, the Dinan plates will work.

I wonder if this plate is still on my car? Would it sit between my GC plates and the strut tower? I don't remember seeing it when I sold my last suspension..

I doubt it. If you have aftermarket suspension, those plates were taken out. Also, I don't think you can do both the GC camber plates and the dinan plates (or the OEM ones) at the same time.

Or, you can just get reinforcement palates from BMW.
They will do the job.
Part numbers seen on the photo attached.

On the above diagram #1 is strut mount, #2 is the washer support, #5 is the gasket (anti seize and squeal)

All of these parts could be purchase at you local BWM dealer and probably cheaper considering you will not be paying for shipping and handling.

I'll check with my tech. I'm selling the GC plates, not trying to stack the Dinan plates on top. Don't really want to go with Dinan plates unless I can't find this particular part.

Mine did not have a plate there. I only had the paper gasket. I know this for a fact as I did my own installation of my KW V1's.

Exactly. That is why I said to go with what is listed on realoem.com. You can lock down your search by your specific serial number and those parts listed are what are in the car. I would lay odds that when he gets his suspension pulled apart he will not find that spacer in there.

What I meant is that all should have it from factory, at least pre LCI but nothing surprises me with BMW anymore.
