These are the better sushi restaurants in the area; there are quite a few downtown too. |

If you want all you can eat sushi, I heard Sushi on 7 is pretty decent.
If you want good Japanese food, you will likely need to head downtown... or you head up on Yonge Street, there's a place called MI-NE that's very good, but quite far from where you are staying.

I would suggest going to Inaho for decent sushi in the area. You might want to try Zen in Scarborough or Mikado in East York for better sushi in town. Enjoy your stay! |

If you're having sushi craving, I suggest you try for some better quality places. AYCE is AYCE, you cannot associate "delicious" or "quality" with them, they will stuff you full though. I second the Zen recommendation, although, with the limited supply of seafood coming in from Japan, even they aren't living up to my expectation as much anymore. I cannot blame them, though.

Eglinton and Mccowan..the area is pretty shady, and I do not recommend you taking your car there. One because the plaza has really shitty slopes; two, because the area, again, is shady. It's located beside a strip club/bowling alley.

I've never been to Sushi on 7 (though review for that place is pretty good).
I usually go to Maison du Japon at John and Woodbine for my AYCE sushi fix. I was at Zen on Tuesday, and I had some "bonding time with my washroom" as well, though I am not sure if this is due to the current situation in Japan... I would recommend Cafe Michi at Pharmacy and Sheppard though, and Kaji on Queensway, but they are BOTH way too far for the OP.

AFAIK, Zen hasn't been getting much from Japan, if any. I'm not sure if this has changed since then. Hopefully you won't become the hulk. The regulations for importing seafood is pretty strict in Canada, so no radiation fish is going to get in that easily. For AYCE, Sushi on 7 isn't horrible, my friends usually go to this place down highway 7, the plaza after Commerce, name slips my mind, same plaza as Yoga Tree. I haven't had AYCE in so long. Michi is a great choice, though I think there cooked food is better than their raw stuff. Kaji, Hashimoto, Zen, and maybe Michi(did you know Kaji used to be associated with them?) was my favourite places to eat for Japanese food...unfortunately, with supply issues, I won't be visiting any time soon. Oh, and my wallet doesn't get along too well with them either.
Something close to OP that may be worth a try is Inatei..I've been there 3 times now, and I'm still unsure how I feel about that place. There dishes are either good or bad. There's not a lot of consistency, but probably best shot at anything decent in this neck of the wood.

Le Cafe Michi is decent but not worth the price tag it charges, similar level of food you can get at Inatei and Japango in Downtown. You might as well get some a la carte sushi and sashimi at Taro's Fish in the area. For decent cooked food and seared sushi I also suggest Shinobu at Yonge and Lawrence. Zen isn't in the best neighbourhood - but their tonkatsu and futomaki definitely worth the drive though. Tempura was good until 3 years ago when the batter started going downhill. |

finally here after a long drive, alot more crowded then last time I was here (think was 7-8 years ago), use to be that everyone speaks cantonese, now alot of ppl speak mandarin so I guess alot more immigrants from other parts of china (not just HK). Driving here has changed too, at times I feel like I'm driving in NYC lol.
went to Keung Kee in Scarborough. wife & I wasnt that hungry so we just order chicken congee and beef chow foon...these two dishes were just average, then we realize there's another Keungs near our hotel lol Question, driving on 407 etr (express toll road), how does the toll work?????
