BMW reflash

I heard a few people mention that BMW will be making a reflash in their BMW performance catalog similar to Dinans. And that it will be less expensive. Has anyone else heard about this or is it just a false rumor??

When I ordered my 335, the dealer mentioned that BMW would make software to boost the performance.
Now every time I bring the car in for service I ask about it but there is nothing yet...

This has been discussed before. If they increase the performance of the 335i, it will compete more favorably with the soon to be introduced M3. Not a good idea for BMW.

I think they are smarter than that! They WON'T give us max power for the 335. It would be in direct competition with the M3 and that is not good for BMW. My guess is it'll be similar in power to sstt.

You don't have to guess. They've already disclosed max PSI. Question is how it drives.

lol. sorry - thought it was another Dinan speculation. You should post this at the end of that BMW speculation thread. "my SA said BMW was coming out with a 90hp reflash..."

Also, the ECU is locked with a high-strength cryptography chip. BMW provided Dinan with access to the ECU, and probably technical documentation. The two companies obviously have an agreement. Why would BMW turn around and sell their own version, to compete with Dinan?

Foreget about BMW coming out with any serious performance mods for the 335 until the M3 is released, and meets BMW,s sales expectations.

true but all bmw 335 performance products are coming out in march along with lsd's maybe more than one changine ratio hence adding performance not just traction...i don't know about an ecu flash though...it makes sense since i believe the dinan flash i got yesterday isn't a warranty for all around the world it is my understanding just in the usa because of bmwna's relationship with dinan.. not bmwag...anyways with how happy i am with this tune i won't even worry about it till it comes out and it is gonna be tough to make it any smoother than the dinan tune it already HUGELY improved over stock form...damn 5 inches of snow is keeping me from having fun today ...anyways you need an lsd to run software otherwise you'll be like me and have the traction light on all the time..i need an lsd soooo bad now

BMW is keeping an eye on the sales of the Dinan reflash. In March, BMW will most likely offer a similar flash at slighlty less cost.

does anyone know if the new m3 has a conservative tune like the 335 has. i read about how bmw did this so the 335 wouldn't be even close to the performance of a m3. but a m3 is always going to be a m3. if i could afford one that is what i will be driving

Congrats on the flash--it sounds like a lot of fun! I agree that LSD is required to make these cars put the power to the pavement. I had 275 PS2s on the back, and it still broke free at every opportunity.
