I opened up both mufflers, on passenger side I replaced the perforated pipe with straight pipe and on driver I cut off the canister and replaced with straight pipe. I left the y pipes alone on both sides.
For mods I have:
Vrsf downpipes
Cobb ap
Vrsf chargepipe with tial bov
I believe the E92 has X pipe not resonators but you may also have secondary cats....
I thought they are a little tame as well that is why I pulled SOME not all packing from center chambers .......
maybe taking out your secondary cats little round canisters will make it just loud enough for you?

Do you have DPs? You should be getting plenty of popping. If so, the OEM xpipe might be more restrictive.

You should definitely have some popping going on. If you're sure you guy modded the exhaust, you may want to look at the Xpipe.

100% I watched him open up both mufflers and straight pipe the perforated pipe on passenger and took out the small muffler looking type and straight piped that. I left my second cats in. you think I should take out the x pipe?

I gotta say thanks to the Op for making this thread. I jut got my resonator deleted and installed an xpipe. Along with the ar downpipes it sounds great! I'll take some gopro vids this weekend.

I really think you should. I don't know of any other reason why it shouldn't be popping. As mentioned above, tips will likely change the tone and volume slightly, but the oem tips shouldn't keep your exhaust from popping.

Anyone else leave the stock xpipe in on a e92?

Do any of you guys have magnaflow tips installed? I'm looking at either 35136 or 35125. Also, is there anyone here who has done this mod without downpipes? That's what I would have so I want to know what to expect. My biggest concern is that it wouldn't make much of a sound difference since I won't be putting in downpipes.

tiangco.a do you have your wastegates position adjusted with a tune (jb4)? It will make a big difference in exhaust tone. More open you will have lots of pop and more closed it is much quieter.

That's nice to hear, and you still have the xpipe in place? Do you have a video?

I did this mod and it sounds really good. How would DP's change the sound? I know it's gonna make it louder but how much? I can't have it annoyingly loud. 911 loud is nice.

Does anybody have a pic showing how the xpipe fits after removing the resonator?
Trying to get an idea how the xpipe fits in on the E90.
