There won't be any harm using 5w40 though. If anything the 40 will protect your engine even more so.

It's quite normal to use a litre or so of oil in a tuned turbocharged car (and it seems most euro's like a drink of oil every now and again!)

Go to the castrol website and use their vehicle finder feature (but I'm 99.9% sure yours would be 5W30!) |

a little bird told me that next year bmw will be teaming up with shell and castrol is shown the door. guess we'll have to wait till next year to see if this is true. this oil isn't technically a full synthetic oil. im having trouble picking an oil that i want to stick with, dont want to be changing brands each oil change to avoid wrecking seals etc. can anyone recommend anything else??? ive been told martini racing and motul are the ones to go for thoughts ??

I was a bit of a guts and bought 6 (I have 3 cars and my family have 6 cars that I service) and there weren't many left!!
If you find that they're sold out of 5W30 and SCA only have 5w40, you can use that also as it's bmw LL01 approved (looking at the PDS's for both there is bugger all difference really between the 5W30 and the 5W40) |
