Interesting point - my inlaws had a Ferrari 355 that I was insured on. Now they aren't that quick by todays standard but still pretty rapid.

Now to drive it really hard was almost impossible - very wide, tramlined like mad, hard to place accurately, pretty average all round visibility and a tendency to break down - a lot.

I honestly think that unless one was driven by a Ferrari test driver, a well driven 335d/335i could keep up. Easier to place, better balanced, no tramlining (once RFTs have been binned), etc and more torque.

It's why Clio's and similar are good giant slayers but IMO if you want a true ballistic back road missile, you are hard pushed to beat a sorted rally rep - the FQ360 I tested was much quicker than the 355 overall. Silly cornering speeds, good visibility, easy to place accurately, etc.

Supercars are great around tracks but on real roads, they are often a PITA.,

That's why if money was no object I wouldn't look at a Ferrari, Lambo, Pagani, etc - I'd head straight to my local Porker dealer and order a 911 Turbo S.

Which car would you rather be in when you crash at high speed?

A) French Shitbox
B) German Engineered Bee em

Answer - the French Shitbox cos you'd be dead, the Bee em you'd be cabbaged

Agreed, but I'd probably choose a GTR.....super powerful but, and I know this is cheesy.......they DO feel digital. I could live with it.

Rabid.

Nothing on a 335i I'm sure though.

But let's be fair, the clio cost the same as an E91 headrest

Jinjur - don't worry luv. There are some quick hot hatches out there imo and it takes A LOT of power to actually seriously 'blow them off' convincingly depending on road conditions, whether straight line, twisties and driver capablilites.

But yes, you're right, unless you've owned or driven a super car it's hard to relate how much actual brute power is required to leave most cars with ease.
Whoop whoop, Yorkshire chick defends ulster shit box driver shocker!!

Lol.

Cheers BB, i know......some people here are sucking fairy balls.

I'm not saying clios beat 335s in general. I'm just saying it DID and clarified the pish (but Clio optimised) conditions this am.

Some of the gentlepeople on here get a bit, well....you know, fan boy which is understandable I suppose.

I have never been in a 335i or d for that matter so cannot comment on whether it is a giant slayer. I have been in a friends gtr and can HONESTLY see why that is.

In context though, the cliOs net worth is equal to that of a dead rats kidney so the fact that it actually moved forwards and stayed within 1 mile of mythical 335i is awesome. Even if the 335i had no driver and engine it would be awesome.

Is this thread still bashing on?

From what I see a 335i does 0-100MPH in about 12.5 secs. A Clio 172 is about 18.5 secs.

Other than something going wrong, I'm not too sure how it could be close?

Why? It was less funny than crabs

Carlos, you are funny. Your posts make me lol raw sometimes but don't say something is funny when it's not just because he is whining the 335i noise.

To be quite honest, when someone says "whatevaaaaaa" I can only imagine purple and neon yellow shell suits and Nike air max. Quite often mixed with rude amounts of jewellery, immense hoop earrings if female.

The rest of the post was pish as formatting plagiarism is not cool.

If he had come back with a quip like "jinjur, you walk in the fashion of a Spanish waitress on heat" that could have potentially been more fun.

But he didn't.

Just agree that the Clio would be on you all down a twisty and we can end this all. It's easy.

That right there is your problem. Staring down your nose at people.

It typically doesnt happen on this board at all, which is why i really enjoy it here. Everyone starts somewhere, if I had the coin, yes...i'd be in a 335d and thats the truth. But i dont. So i have arguably one of the best cars I can afford. It just happens to be a "hot" hatch.

But you broke the mould and stamped "bell master" on your forehead im afraid.

Might as well say the same about DX and everyone who "maps" their cars.

Read the Evo article (if you can stoop that low) about the Clio and the M6 and then come back and provide some non-wankery.

That is IF you can set down the Financial Times long enough, perhaps your butler could even read it and let you know the gist of it?

jinjur - maybe the 335i was experiencing a high pressure fuel pump failure at the time.

lol.

To be fair, I can pretty much guarantee that there was a failure of some form in the Clio too. I just might not know it yet.

J
5 pages of fairly entertaining insults and claims

Now it's getting very childish so lets just applaud you on your observation of your clio's pace, accept that they are quick cars and fun to drive.

lol this reminds me of my mates clio when I was in uni, had a leak on his radiator for a year and every mile we went we had stop and fill it up with what ever liquid was at hand ... and I mean ANY liquid lol. But damn resilient it was.

I adore the sound of my car, its bone stock but purrrrs so sexily. Specially love it on narrow closed in roads / tunnels where the sounds echo.

Really does make up for the shite standard stereo.

Dude, I think the max power comment was directed at your name calling - chill the fack out man !
