looking to see what everyone thinks of federal ss595 tires? I am on the market for tires and these are very affordable, but just want to check and see if they are just a cheap unreliable tire or if its worth the deal. Anyones input would be great.

They are cheap, I always believe you get what you pay for.
I've heard they are loud and bad in the rain.

thanks for your input. Ive been trying to good some reviews about these tires and hear the same, they are not good in the rain. But as far as dry weather performance it seems most people are praising these tires for the price. But Im not sure if its worth taking that chance.

Had them for a short while. Agreed that they were a little on the noisier side. Nothing the radio wouldn't drown out. The tires are one of the most important parts of your car - they keep you stuck to the road. We all have different budgets, but that is not a place you want to skimp.

How did you like these tires while you used them? Were they a good tire or would you recommend against them?

They are a good low cost alternative. I prefer these over the noisier General Exclaim UHP's. They are only for summer use, so I wouldn't worry too much about major wet traction. How much are you buying them for - what is your price range? A slightly used set of better tires might be a better option.

I found the whole set of 4 federals for $529 shipped to my house. Seems like a pretty good deal to me. Just hoping they are a decent tire. I havent ordered anything yet, but just hoping it wouldnt be a mistake if I did order them.

i have a set on now. it's a good tire likes warm temps. good stick. went thru winter on them .no problems ,but i live in socal. paid $400 installed. 235/40/18f 255/35/18 r. great price point . overall grade B+

Thank you for your input. The tire sizes I need are 235/35/19 fronts and 265/30/19 rears. But after reading more about the federals people are saying they are one size larger then what they say. Is that true in your application? Id rather not go down to a 225/35/19 and 255/30/19 if I dont have to. If thats the case I think Id rather find another tire. Maybe you can give me your thoughts on that....

I live in the philadelphia area and I found a tire shop in the city that I called about tires today. They recommended NEXEN tires to me. I havent heard great things about them. But this tire shop said they are selling alot of them and getting good reviews from the customers. Anyone have any experience with these? If I went with them it would be the NEXEN N3000.

federals are better tires than nexen n3000(also had them before). federals do run a little wider.

I have ran Kuhmo's on a few of my cars. If you are not tracking, I'm not sure whey you would need true "performance" tires. The Kuhmo line were fairly quite, still grippy and priced less than most. Just stay away from Nankang / Wanli /Triangle /etc.

I have read a few mixed reviews. Im not sure what to do at this point except save a bit for better tires. But my wheels should be here soon and I want to put them on as soon as the wheels get here.

Wow nankang was another tire I saw that seemed decent for the price. But I guess its not worth wasting the money..

If i was to get the federals in sizes 235/35/19 fronts and 265/30/19 rears do you think Id have rubbing issues with my ICONZ 19's and KW V1 coilovers? Im guessing the sizes mentioned above would be equal to 245/35/19 and 275/30/19 which I was told may be too wide for my e90.....

Can you explain why the Federals are understated in size? The shoulder of some tires are more rounded and some are more square, but the overall width shouldn't vary by 10mm. Have someone who has them measure the actual width to test the accuracy of that claim.

Id like to see if someone that owns the tires could measure also. I have just read about them being larger, I have no facts of that.

This is a set of Federal 595 RSR's (pretty awesome 140 tread wear tires for dirt cheap) next to Nitto NT05's of the same size, you can see that the federals run wide. This is true for the SS-595 as well.

WOW! whata difference. Those tires are supposed to be the same size? With the federal being that much wider? That looks like a pretty big difference. I wonder what sizes I would need if I was to go with the federals? Kind of makes me nervous to even try those being they may cause rubbing issues if I do get them.....

I had a set of SS-595 on my old eclipse gs-t, and they are decent tires. Definitely worth the money. They def run wide, and the tread lasts a long time. The grip in the wet is not too bad honestly, and I don't recall them being too loud. Then again, I couldn't hear much of anything else besides my turbo and exhaust on that car.
