Don't tell anyone, but I'd give the Oilers a better shot of advancing past round 1 of playoffs than my Flames (the models of inconsistency)

You haven't seen inconsistency until you watch how the Canucks play.

I think of all the teams in the West - CGY Flames might have the best chance here. I don't want to admit it I hate CGY - but if you think about the factors that makes a stanley cup champion. CGY currently has it.

- grit
- goaltender
- scoring
- captain that can score and defend
- good overall defense

The other team would be Anaheim that is a heavy favorite, or San Jose but Nabakov will be done after the 1st round. There is no way he can endure playing almost every game in the season and still be able to stand playoffs. Potentially 100+ games to win the cup, yeah right dude.

East teams don't stand a chance. Either they have a great goalie and can't score or they can score but no defense/goaltending.

Don't even talk about the Canucks...

We'd be lucky to win the NW division and a round of playoffs.

Errr, I think the Oil is gonna need some big lucky to make the playoffs, we barely have a team with all the injuries, the kid line can only do so much.

+1, the Flames could do it, they are hella tough.

The Canucks, depends who shows up, they have the potential though, but Calgary knows they can do it, the Canucks still need to figure it out.

Perhaps Calgary is looking at the *current* standings and trying to wrangle their destiny .... keeping the Canucks & Colorado just behind them & Minnesota ahead. Calgary has 3 games against the Canucks ... and control their own destiny.

After last year, I think Calgary would far prefer to play Minnesota 1st round rather than Detroit.
