Mufflers only mod
Has anyone done just a mufflers only to a 335i coupe,6MT.The rest of the exhaust being bone stock except for a pair of performance muffs, like magnaflows or similiar? And did you get any drone or resonance in the cabin? If so links to a vendor please.thanks,Danny

if your going to do that, have the muffler shop replace the crushed piping before the mufflers as well.

If your just changing the mufflers I dont think the sound will alter too much. But once you remove the resonator it will get 10X louder.

Dont want to change anything but the mufflers.I know i wont gain any noticeable power, just a more agressive note with no resonance in the cabin.Leaving everything bone stock except the mufflers. My stock mufflers were damaged after hitting something in the road and insurance replaced the stockers with brand new ones. They go together with just clamps instead of being welded as a one piece unit like from the factory. So just changing the mufflers is a breeze.I,m positive by just throwing on a set of magnaflows or AE mufflers will give me the sound i,m looking for without any drone or resonance in the cabin.

Where are the resonators? I looked under there and all I saw was the 2 secondary cats and a square box thing, is the sqaure can after the cats a resonator?

http://s18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...Movie_0002.flv ^^^ dont know how to embedd off photobucket. ^^ obv. that was a cold start thats why its REALLLY loud. back when car was stock other than exhaust oBV. those should answer the OP's questions. and defenently OP, if you dont want a loud muffler then do not get the magnaflow race, i personally wanted it as loud as possible so i picked these. the have a bit of drone but i love it! i would go with another muffler like the dinan he posted above, those sound alot quiter then the magnaflows and still sound nice.

I,m 51 and want it quiet.(LOL) but a little meaner than stock.Thats the reason i want to keep everything bone stock except the mufflers.Does AE sell just mufflers? What about a non race pair of magnaflows. This week i am probably going to check out the Dinans in Westchester and see what they sound like.Lots of choices and decisions to make.

I cannot speak for the Eisenmann, but I have a Bastuck and it definitely changes the sound. No drone at all. Very happy with it. G/L with your decision.

try either the Bastuck or Eisenmann sport. they are not cheap, but the quality is great.
