They are all expensive cars but how is Audi being too expensive in this case? (Also, fully loaded S6 is $89k vs fully loaded 550ix @ $92k) I didn't go online to figure them myself, those are what I saw 2 days while visiting both local dealers. (Canadian dollar as in BC)

My comment was misunderstood. It's how I value cars, given what I look for in a car. I'm not talking about the price point relative to market etc, I'm sure it's priced competitively. To me and what I look for in a car, I won't pay that for the S7 or RS7. Needless to say, we all derive personal value differently.

Here's a shocker: The E9X M3, to me, is not worth it's sticker. That's why I bought pre-owned in the $40k range. To me it's worth every penny that I paid. I wouldn't sleep easy at night had I paid $67k+ for my car.
To many, it is worth $67k+, nothing wrong with that, everyone derives value differently.

Why is this in this section? What does this have anything to do with General M3 discussion?

S6 I'd be interested. S7, no thanks. Seen this car IRL plenty of times and I still don't think they look any good.

Ummmm...Pretty sure there are a lot of GTRs still running out there with insane HP figures that aren't blown up. Just gotta get a respectable tuner. If I tuned the engine, well, let's just say I won't tune an engine.

Now move out of General M3 Discussion.

Agreed with ///Machine. It's a fugly car, and reminds me of an early-'80s Cadillac Seville from the side. You know, the one that looked like a cockroach on wheels.

Even worse, similar to what signes said, the A7/S7/RS7 reminds me of this:

Speaking of which, I'm LMAO at the apparent legions of forum members who think the M5 (and M3, of course) are oversteerers.

Gimme a break. They're all going off nose first - which is of course an advantage 'cause it looks like you did it purposefully.

Here's a quote from Car & Driver, while comparing the M3 with other very good handlers:

"...But it’s obvious the M3 spent development time at the track, where it’s very stable and confidence-inspiring. However, a good deal of understeer appears in just about every type of turn—even a sharp stab at the brakes midcorner can’t convince it to do otherwise..."

I want one, but it's too much money.

I saw something on TV where an Audi representative said Audi will dethrone BMW in 2 years. They could be on course for that.

I'd take an S6 over an RS7. By the way, APR is releasing their stage 1 tune soon for the S6/S7 and it's going to be bonkers. I probably wouldn't tune it while under warranty but from the APR teases, TQ is well over 600. Anyway, I give the RS7 thumbs down.

Great car, but there are many great cars out there that cost $100k +. The trick is to make them affordable and mass produce them. To dethrone BMW, Audi has to make a car that beats the M3 at a comparable price. The RS5 is pretty damn close.

I read an internet article that said the Audi R8 is the car that girls find the sexiest.

The V10 R8 costs like $180k. It would be no big surprise if chicks dig it more.

Meh, kind of reminds me of a Dove Bar of soap. It's a big boat for sure. If I'm going big boat "sports car", I'm spending my $100k on a loaded M6 or M5 with a proper rear wheel drive and optional manual transmission to boot. Also, for that kind of money, I'd rather have a E63 or C63 Black Series. Audi's overestimating a little that people will spend the high premium for a RS model. RS5 did not make a great impression.

So here is the problem as I see it:

Premium performance cars are getting into stratospheric levels of power and torque. These numbers in street cars were unheard of not too long ago. The limits of RWD traction are simply inadequate. Thank God for the modern stability programs that allow this kind of power to put into street driven vehicles available to the general public.

I still contend that these power levels really need AWD to be safely driven on the street, if you still want the ability to have fun, and not drive on eggshells all the time.

However, AWD hinders steering feel and responsiveness. Some cars do it better than others, but it is less than optimal in the subjective handling department.

It seems that we are really past the limits of what can be done in a real transport street going vehicle to optimize all performance parameters and still have real useable power. Two seater mid-engined exotics are a different story entirely.

So, as far as high-end real transport vehicles are concerned, it looks like we are at the point where one must choose: Better straight line thrust capability, or better handling sharpness. You can't have both.

Yet another ugly and heavy VW.
With every new car they release Audi moves further away from their origins: The original legendary Quattro.
They keep gettin heavier, bigger, and stay soulless. Hate this. They´re not even close to BMW when it comes to sportiness or soul.

Straight line figures on Paper mean nothing when it does not corner properly.(

And I think Audi is doing BMW Enthusiasts a favor:

People who dont care about driving/handling and being blinded by Figures on Paper will buy Audis, while real Motoring-Enthusiasts will stay with BMW.

I do not see myself buying an overexpensed VW anytime soon.
