Alternate to Run Flat Tires

Since most of us don't have spare tires in these vehicles I want to see what everyone is doing as an alternate to a spare if you aren't running run flat tires on your car. Considering going with non run flat tires but need a solution for a flat on a road trip since I travel regularly.

I might go with one of those Slime tire kits that inflate and fill with slime.

Having worked in the industry early on in my life I try and stay away from the fix a flat goo products.

+1 Have this in my trunk. Look at reviews and make your own decision, but I couldn't justify spending almost 3x as much for the BMW one. Conti has one too, at about 2x as much.

Yes.

Got mine from Amazon the other day and it feels pretty solid. Reviews were good too. Hope to never have to use it though...

Say I get a nail in my tire tread. With these kits, I would have to still pull the nail out?

If so, wouldn't it be easier to pull the nail out with the car jacked up?

Our cars don't come with jacks, right?

these kits are just meant to get you home, so they seal the tire and reinflate it.

once you get home, you can fix it if you want

personally, I'll be taking the tire straight to the shop, having it dismounted, and have the wheel cleaned off. That gunk can eventually eat away and damage your wheel,

it's only a temporary fix, but preferable to calling a tow truck if you've ditched your runflats

Yeah, my Porsche 997 came with no spare, but with one of these "Mobility Kits". They could include a prayer book too for all the good it will do when you are in the middle of the desert with a shredded tire. I borrowed a spare wheel and jack for the trip to Colorado from SoCal.

The road noise of the RFT on my newly acquired 328i is horrible on our patches-on-patches local roads and freeways, so I guess I will be researching the cost of new tires and wheels.

The time has come to replace the 2 rear tyres on my 318d M Sport. I'm thinking of going down the non run flat route and getting some Tyreweld or similar. The two fronts still have a bit of life left in them so does anyone have experience of running RFT on front with non RFT on rear?

Tyreweld says their product can be washed out with hot water so that would eliminate the problem of no one wanting to repair a RFT. Anyone experience of using Tyreweld or the Slime kits? I have Slime in my mountain bike tyres to prevent punctures and haven't had any issues with it.
