NorCal/UC Berkeley

Hi,

I'm taking a summer course in Berkeley and was wondering where would be the cheapest place to park my car there 3-4 hours a day, around 4 days a week?

I'm totally new here and have no idea where anything is.

PLEASE HELP

You brought a car from Massachusetts for the summer???

Parking will probably be around $6-8 for those 4 hours a day at most of the lots here. Too bad Berkeley BART does not have a parking lot but Ashby does (1 stop over from Berkeley BART) and it's $1 for the whole day I believe. I would let you park at my apt complex but that'd be a little difficult with the keys / remote (lift style parking).

Welcome to Berkeley! What classes are you taking and do you have a place to live already and such?

Edit:
And here is a link to the permits if you're interested in that: http://pt.berkeley.edu/pay/permit/permitlist
It may be less of a hassle for you and can park longer

Go Bears!

yeah, I still have her. I sold the green bits and the performance parts and drove her that way for about a year and a half. I'm starting to mod again though. Performance first and then probably a set of wheels

Look on craigslist.com .. there are many people on southside who try to rent out their parking spots. Alot of the apt's south of Dwight allocate a parking spot for each unit and none of the tenants occupying them own a car. There are alot of these people who try to rent out their spots.

Even better, theres going to be massive amounts of people who are willing to rent out for the summer, since alot of them go back home during vacation.

I'm just taking a ethnic study class for summer 1 and summer 2 I'm taking a photography class. I live at my aunts house about 30min away. I found this lot that charges 10 for the whole day and for summer 1 I'm only going to be attending 3 days a week so averaging about $120 a month.

Blakes is gone now...
Last time I was in Berkeley in March, Blakes closed and the property was for lease.

So I found a spot in a Fraternity house for $200/entire summer. Pretty happy with it and is indoor parking.

Now what is there to do during my break times?

How long are your breaks? There's cafes around campus - Strada and Milano are popular. There's also two "Asian ghettos" or food villages on North and South side as well as libraries all over campus. I would make some friends and have lunch between classes.

Go Bears! Use the car to your advantage! Take some girls out to eat away from campus or to SF.
