Help opening M5 SMG Shift Knob up?
I know there's a few people here running the M5 SMG/M3 DCT shift knob on our cars.
Does anyone know *how* to open the shift knob itself up? I'd like to take off the "plate" that is on the shift knob and can't tell exactly how it is held on. From what I can gather some people think it is held on by an adhesive. I know it is possible as EAS used to make a carbon fiber knob with the plate out of carbon fiber. Also there are pics of people doing custom integrated shift boots with it, which would only be possible with opening the plate up. The attached two pictures may clear up what I mean. Pics are from EAS and Bimmian respectively. Thanks for the help! |

Found it! It was under my nose all this time. PDF found here and attached to this thread for future reference in case the link goes down.
Basically you just pop off the front "face" of the shift diagram (held on by adhesive), under the cover there are screws that hold the place/cover of the shift knob to the frame of the knob. |
