New audio/video system
I am looking at installing a new a/v system in my e90, but I am a complete noob to this and have no idea what i am doing what so ever. I am looking at the Pioneer AVH-P3200BT. Does anyone have opinions on this model? Are there any other systems that you like? Also, would it be necessary to buy new speakers and all or would my basic audio be sufficient?
Thanks. |

A "system" consists of multiple components which combine to form a system. That is a head unit. I suggest you figure out what your needs are, and then read. There is a lot of information on this site about building a complete system.

I would steer away from that and other similar model pioneers.
They have a rich feature set but the video quality is subpar. This is because it has an irregular number of pixels. Look for similiar product like Sony Xav-70bt or 60bt. These have a 800x480 resolution which translates to 16x9. The pioneers have something like 1400x280 with rectangular pixels. Go look at the products in a best buy or something you will see even text looks shitty on these. You will need to contact Technic to buy a harness to integrate these into your vehicle. |

A new head unit wont give you better sound. If your car is prewired for satelite radio, than get the module installed.

The easiest thing you could do would be purchase an aftermarket sirius radio unit and a bracket for your dash. Mount it, hard wire it for power, and run the 3.5mm cable to the arm rest for sound.
I did this and its great for my needs. Cost less than $100. I wasn't looking to spend ~500 just to get sirius. |
