From BimmerFile:

Quote:
BMW did not stop there, there will be an “iS” version (US exclusive model). This ultra sporty version will include a transmission choice of the DCT or a Sport Automatic as well as special styling and aerodynamics. Certain M Sport items, such as a steering wheel will be included. Expect similar engine tweaks to the inline 6 N54 twin turbo as have been found in the 7RR package on the X6 and of course the recently released Z4sDrive35iS.

from Car and Driver...

"However, the twin-turbo N54 won’t go away entirely, as a higher-performance version will power the 335is models, which receive better breathing and more boost, bumping output to 320 hp. As with the Z4 sDrive35is, the seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox—massaged with a dual-mass flywheel, revised programming, wheel-mounted paddle shifters, and launch control—will be available in addition to the standard six-speed manual. "

will we get launch control on hte 335is with DCT?? ~Frost

How can they put 18's and not 19's on it...I guess 313's would be a REALLY nice winter setup!

313s, not 313's. 18s and 19s, not 18's and 19's. Do you eat "taco's" for lunch too? Lose the apostrophe. Several of you on this thread are doing this

"First, things will get sportier- new bumpers, LED lights and slight interior tweaks. 335i models optionally equipped with the M-Sport package or with the Sports Package will have 19″ wheels, this is a step up from the current 18s. There will be new color choices on the exterior as well as the interior; including Anthracite Bamboo trim. Automatic high beam assist will be added to the option sheet like its 4 door siblings. These refreshed models will be some of the first to optionally offer the “pull/pull” paddles (like ///M in the past) for transmissions without a third pedal, a feature we reported earlier to launch with the F10 5 Series."
6MT is there for non-is models. engine output will be similar to the 7RR package.

hijinks high jinks

Hey Hijinks,
"313s not 313's." and "18s and 19s, not 18's and 19's." are NOT complete sentences. Quit writing in sentence fragments! You drive us all crazy when you do this!

Does anyone else think this is becoming a bit redundent?

Looks at whats becoming of the 3series:
325i
228i
330i
335i
335i (with M package)
335is
M3

(also consider theres xi and multable body styles to complicate this)

From an opperations management point of view, it becomes ineffecitent and costly (for both BMW and Dealers) to produse so many simmilear models. Having more models means more unique parts to design, maintain and stock for a single car (er series). They should consolidate these to 325i (BMW styling w/o sport), 335i (BMW styling w/ sport, and probably the best DD ive driven) and the M3 (Sport, sport, sport, w/BMW styling).

Id rather take a 335i and aftermarket the shit out of it.

Why less hp than the current N54 engine? Every independant test seems to indicate the N54 puts out about 330hp (Dinan quotes 331 for the stock engine in the charts promoting ist software upgrades).

Or does the additional 22hp mean its really around the 350hp range?

+1 good question. i was wondering that myself, but I'd have to assume nobody knows yet.

Also because its still the n54 engine does that mean current piggybacks will still be compatible?

No, they are not.

Z4 wheels are more of M6 wheels.

When all this euphoria subsides, will anyone take a moment to crunch a few numbers between A 335is with all those goodies or an e92 M3?

It's a no brainer decision to spring for a stripper M3 if the 335is moves into the $50k territory. That choice would even be easier if the 335is is not offered with the old-schooled 6MT while the M3 still keeps it. I know what I would do when comes the time to consider 1 of these 2 used/CPO for a weekend joy ride.
