Wheel offset - E91 compared E46 M3

Hi, does anybody know whether the offset on the E46 M3 wheels is compatible with the E91. Iam hoping to obtain a set of 18' smoked chrome wheels to my E91 however I just saw a thread elsewhere where a guy struggled with the 19' M3 wheels on his E46 coupe as they stuck out too far? Somebody out there must be a complete anorak on this or at least know where to find out? Cheers

M3 E46 and E91 Offset

I did a little homework on this subject but Iam still not really sure here - The 17" Spider alloys fitted to my E91 have a front and rear offset of ET34. The M Sport MV3 Wheels are ET34 Front and ET37 Rears. The E46 M3 wheels are ET47 Front and ET26 Rears. My assumption here is that M3 fronts will sit 13mm wider/further out in the arches than the Standard Spider wheels and M Sport wheels - not sure if that would create a huge issue. The rears will be sitting at about the same point in the arches as the 225 spider rear wheels due to the offset - not entirely sure whether it will give issues with rubbing on the inner of the tyre. Anybody who is a wheel and tyre expert could advise me here? Help. Would spacers help or should I just forget it?

So your existing wheels are ET34.
The offset of the E46 M3 wheels are ET47 front and ET27 (not 26) rears.

The front M3 wheel would sit further in to the arch and closer to the strut, not further out in the arch, so for the front E46 M3 wheel to work on the E91 you would need a spacer - 12mm, which would make the offset ET35 as opposed to your existing ET34 on the 17" spider wheel

The rear M3 wheel (ET27) will sit further out in the arch and further from the rear strut, given your existing rear rim is ET34, it should work without spacers.
