Strange electrical goings on.
Twice now I've got in to the car and the clocks have been reset to --.-- and the climate control has turned its self up from 16C to 22C. The first time the car wouldn't let me in so I had to use the emergency key, it then wouldn't start so had to lock the doors using the fob and then open it again.
Yesterday I was driving down the road when ALL of the warning lights started to flash, ABS, Tyre deflation, Traction Control, Light out and the speedo kept dropping from 20mph to 0, even though the car was driving fine. I pulled over, turned the car off and back on and it's been fine since. Any idea what's going on? FYI its a 56 330D E92 EDIT: Since this started I've only been getting 22mpg... I was getting 28 around town only 3 days ago... |

Have you checked the battery connections in the boot, or indeed the condition indicator on the battery itself?

I'd say change the battery. I had similar strange goings-on in my E46 M3. Got kwik fit to test the battery and they said it was fine.
It never had problems starting or using the electrics with the engine off like you'd normally associate with a flat battery. But funny things like random stalling at low revs, one touch windows not going all the way up, TCS warning lights coming on and so on were happening. Was about to check it into an auto electrical specialist and thought I'd change the battery anyway. A soon as I did all the problems went away. |
