Interesting.
I thought most people stated that Ceramic Tint will not affect CA.
Can anyone local confirm this?
No matter what, I am still going to get ceramic tint. It gets too hot without it.

if folks dont have Navi, ceramic is not needed... and I dont, so I'll just be going F1-Ultimate at $289 (sedan) minus 10% (only 2 cars is needed for this as per pocketrocket)

No need to panic.

1 - See E90Fleet's post in that thread. CA has some receivers in the rear window, and some people have had CA problems after installing metallic rear window tint, which have been solved by switching to non-metallic (ceramic) tint.

2 - I've had F1 Pinnacle on my car for a year, and my CA works perfectly and has never messed up.

3 - Huper Optik tint has a slightly greenish hue. This has been reported by several members. Some people really don't like the look. F1 Pinnacle has a nice charcoal look. I haven't seen anyone say they're disappointed with the look.

I don't want to talk anyone into making a $400 purchase that they end up regretting, so please make up your own minds. On the other hand, if you are going to get tint, IMO the F1 Pinnacle is about as good as you can get and it does not impact CA at all.

Ase - certainly, a tint with a metallic layer would be fine if you don't have CA. Pinnacle is ceramic.

I am no expert on how the different tints look, but I suspect Ultimate looks the same as Pinnacle. LA Tint has samples they can show you.

Ase - 50% would probably look really nice. MB has a cool "blue glass" OEM that looks nifty IMO and different than any tint.

Somewhere there's a "non-ghetto tint" thread. As you know, I think mine looks nice and appropriate for my (no longer such a young adult) age. I was on the border between 35% and 50% and opted for 35%. With my light interior, it does not look too dark and IMO really improves the appearance of the car. 50% also would be good, and is legal in VA (max 50% front 35% rear is the law).

with a SG and Black interior on mine, I feel 50 would just work right, Im more after the MB that really heat dissipation, so Im going the less cost route
But F1 comes only in one color right? wether I get ulitimte or pinncle

yours is perfect, thats why Im thinking F1 also if I tint mine

Thanks for all the information, BK.

Though I've decided to back out, I'm not sure if the steep price is worth it, especially when I'm not sure how I'll like it on my car. Money will probably go to an front aero lip or rims.

At the time, I was nervous to get it. Having never had a car tinted before, I was concerned that any tint might make it look cheap. But I absolutely love it now. I think 50% for you is a good call.

BTW - I assume it's the same hue, but you can call and ask, or stop by to see samples anytime.

and one thing about F1 they said is that is doesnt fade, unlike other tints. I may stop by the Alexandria Branch and check out the floor sample.

Thks for all your input on F1, it helps us here trying to understand all the mystery about Tints. Coz I thought they were all the same, and if I have CA or Nav, its definitely Pinnacle for me too!

Honestly, I think I need to see someone's car with the F1 tint before I do anything to mine.

I remember seeing BK's car at the BBQ, but I wasn't paying attention then

I rode in the M5 at the BBQ and he had 35% and it was to dark for me at night, the light coming in also looked like it had some parhelia or halo effect to it (very slight, but I noticed it).

Hey Guys,
Sorry I haven't been around, been on travel for business.

I spoke with Chris, the assitant Manager, at LA Tint in Manassas.
He is willing to offer us 10% off for tinting. You do not need to get more than one car done.
Just mentioned to him that you are in the BMW club.
He quoted me $299 for 35% Ceramic Tint all the way around, except the front. This is with a 10% discount.

I believe this is a resonable price.
He schedules cars a week in advance, nothing sooner.
