OMG! BMW Insurance!!!

i rang up to claim my 7 days free insurance that you get when you first get the car...

i thought i might as well ask for a years quotation (really not expecting anything vaguelly competitive) but OMG - they are cheaper than elephant!, who by the way kicked the arse of every other quote i had... and to top it off, you extras you get are awesome!!! medical cover, like for like replacement car, free key replacement etc. etc. etc...

i'm over the moon

BMW Insurance are actually came up as DirectLine when I had to have a chip sorted on the windsceen.

I went with them because they were competetive, but with extras. Also the car goes straight to a BMW bodyshop and they don't have to wait for an assessor to see it before starting work.... which means mine would go to my dealer who has the BMW panel techy of the year.

Only down side was the first cover note didn't turn up so it was a bit a panic to get a 2nd one to the dealer in time to pick up the car. Ended up dropping it off as they opened and coming back later for the car. Wasn't too bad as I had to go pick up my Sister's 1st car anyway.

To cross threads a bit... when I got the car I asked about discounts for having a tracker and the response was - no discount, they just demand you fit one for certain cars. So did they demand one ZiM?

I gave Paul (beauforty) the nickname 'the ModFather', or the MF.

I'm thinking of a few nicknames for you now, Zim- TZ (Trackerless ZiM), FTT (F*ck The Tracker) or how about ZITTS (ZiM's Irrate & Thinks Trackers Stink)!

Perhaps we should start a poll?!

Just pretend you have one - it'll keep them all quiet.

Actually ... it's probably the most I have ever paid for something I can't see and will hopefully never need.

I never see the point of a tracker, ex-demos seem to have them on so I have had them in the past but never renewed the maintenance. Thieves don't know you have one - so they are as likely to steal a car with as without. Modern BMWs are I would imagine quite difficult to steal anyway and to be honest once someone has driven my car off at high speed and hacked it about, round the local supermarket car park, I'm not sure I want it back. I also think unless you have the one that detects your car has been moved, by the time you know it is nicked it has probably been found and removed and at the bottom of a lake.

Oops...sorry to resurrect old thread. Clicked through the posts on the latest insurance thread in UK forum
