Having issues with the DEF tank

Hey everyone, I know there are somewhat other topics on this but I wanted to create my own regarding my current situation.

I'm having crystallization on the heat shield in between my dual exhaust on my 335d - 2011. I think it's the def tank leaking as I get puddles of ammonia smelling liquid that dries into a white powdery crystallization type consistency. I called Irvine BMW as well as Sterling BMW and they say that only the active def tank is covered under the extended service bulletin ( 10 years or 120k miles) does anyone have any advice or insight for me?

I want to make this into more of a performance car, is there a way to delete the DEF system to better get around the whole repair? At the dealership the part alone is almost $1100 if one of the tanks is not covered, plus about $2200 for labor. I'm new to the Bimmer world and don't know a ton about this.

Also, where can k get my diesel tuned here in Cali? Can't seem to find anywhere or anyone reliable and credible.

I was just in California on work travel for a few 335d's. Will be back sometime next year. That is correct that the active tank is covered but also if they say it needs a passive tank. Well by default, its covered also because its all one tank assembly. Feel free to pm me.

You can always buy a used tank. Plenty around and they are not difficult to get out.

Or just drain the tank and tune out the DEF, for off road only of course

This is what I would like to do, but since this is my first diesel vehicle, I'm a little confused on how to set this up correctly as well as find a tuner who can help with this.

Update - Covered under extended warranty

Just an update. Had the SES light on for months. I got the active tank def pump replaced and there was another code that was found. There is a failure with the active tank and BMW Newport Beach will replace under extended service bulletin. FINALLY!

Time was ticking since I had until September 2021 before the extended coverage ran out.

I spoke to a tuner in the past and they said the car will run too hot with the DEF only deleted, but who knows. It's either you delete it all or just keep it OEM and repair what has gone bad. I have purchased a used DEF tank in the past and it only worked for 2 months lol after that I just got deleted by BRR.

I have what you need up north about 300 miles... FREE wont ship

73k miles on the set up, Come get it before it gets recycled.

The ABC repair is going to cost you roughly $1600 in parts(self Tune), another $2k in labor if you dont wrench yourself.

You have two choices for tune, send your ECU in for "repair" or DIY

335dlci Can give you the true cost of ABC repair.

I hope you get it fixed under warranty, but... it might be a fight.

Apparently the SCR. When DEF is injected it's helping cool down the exhaust temperature at the same time reducing the NOx. Keep in mind this was information passed down to me by some Malone Dealer. I asked if I could just disable my DEF system and keep the DPF running and he said it's not recommended.
