Any mechanic with 3 brain cells can remove the exhaust from your car and attach an after market one. It is a simple bolt on process that is easily reversible.

whenever i return my car, will the dealership check and see that the OEM muffler was welded back on?
and what do they check when you return the car from a lease?

Why would you weld a blot on exhaust? If they notice your AM exhaust then upon return of the car they will check to make sure the stock exhaust is back on.

Jeez dude, 30 people have told you that your warranty will not be voided. They will not deny you service or take special notes on your car. Dealers really don't care. If somehow the service manager at your dealership is a stickler, find a different dealer. Nobody is going to crawl around under your car at lease turn-in look for welds on the exhaust either. You just seem ridiculously scared about modifying your car in any way. So don't.

Yea seriously the car is a 328 not a Ferrari; no dealership will waste the time to do a massive inspection job on it. Only thing they care about is that the car is back to stock when you hand it back. And that's another good point, if you're scared to mod then don't do it and have peace of mind.

LOL! I changed the muffler, remove resonator, intalled afe intake, installed rims and even did the AA tune on my car. When I brought the car to the deal for the yearly service, they didn't give a shit.
