Hey all,

taking delivery of my 318d M Sport Plus tomorrow morning.

Now I'm well aware that its not an M model, and being a 318d is hardly going to set the road alight so i'm reluctant to adorn it with redundant 'M' badges.

But, I'm interested on hearings peoples opinions on a full debadge i.e. removing the 318d badge to leave a clean rear end....

Any strong opinions or thoughts?

I removed the 325i on the rear but only because i dont like chrome, if i could get some gloss black ones i'd be happy

Aslong as they aren't replaced with an 'M' no harm done

It's a 318d so I'd definitely be taking it off.

As well as looking clean its easier to clean as well.

I had a 320d which came debadged ... and I preferred the look on my E92. Cleaner and smarter.

When I changed to an E92 330d I had it debadged ... and have not regretted it - it just looks so much cleaner IMO.

My 335d is de-badged. It does make the back end look a lot cleaner. I did de-badge an A3 I once owned for the same reason.

Don't add M badges, that looks naff to say the least.

its personal preference really. would it bother you to have a 318d badge on the back?
it would prob look better without the badge, what colours the car?

I had an E36 325 way back in the day and that was debadged as well. Just canvassing opinions as to what looks the better

Debadging to me generally makes me think the owner is not proud of their engine size. There are a few people who debadge larger engines but most debadged cars tend to be 318 and 320.

That's quite true. But the rear does look better without the chrome.

Probably true, I have downsized from a X5 3.0D, not ashamed to have debadged my E91 , it looks cleaner and more slick !

I de-badged my 335d just to tidy up the back-end, looks much cleaner with no badge

Im a 318i and proud.
I can count the number of times its bothered me on one hand.
To people in the know a smaller engine is easy to spot with or without the badge. (The number of debadged 320d around my way is ridiculous)
But im a car proud guy anyway so id rather my car looks great regardless of the size of the engine and when i feel the need to set the road alight i just get the Triumph out and show everyone whats what.

I debaged mine, the back end looks so much better without random numbers on the boot lid, but who cares what other people think as long as your happy...

So what if it says 318 on the back?no one will care except you. There's nothing wrong with driving a 318,this is coming from someone who has given his Beemer keys to missus and drives her shitbox of a Renault megane as daily driver.

Nothing to do with engine size IMO, it's a royal PITA trying to clean properly around those badges. Mine are comeing off next time I detail the car properly.

Debadging or keeping the badges is a matter of personal preference no matter what anyone suggests.

Personally, I prefer to keep badges off - this included an M3 and an X5 35D MSport amongst many others I bought new, because I like the cleaner look but also enjoyed washing, cleaning, polishing and waxing properly.

That's the beauty of a debadging a 335i/d, the twin pipes let everyone know what it really is.
