Where should I go to get front brakes replacedé

My warning lights came on today for my front brakes, I know it was coming time to get them replaced...any suggestions on where I should go?

Dealer ship quoted me $460 + taxes = $515.79, an indy shop quoted me roughly the same price $447 + taxes, if im only paying $15 more I rather just take it to the dealer at this point, unless anyone has better suggestion?

Unless you do it yourself you'd be hard pressed to find a better price. I was really surprised by the price dealer charged for pads/rotors/install. Mine was under $500 but we only have a 5% tax here. This way if they squeal or something goes wrong I can go back easily for them to correct.

BMW Dealers have very competitive prices for certain common items (brakes, water pump, battery, clutch, etc.) in an attempt to generate more traffic. I would say if you are not mechanically inclined enough to do it your self, bring it to the dealer. At least you can insure you get OEM parts. Who knows what the indy shop will try and put in your car.

I think the decision comes down to are you happy with the OEM pads - if so, dealer is a safe bet. They won't install aftermarket pads I'm sure - if you want to try something else e.g. Akebono, EBC, whatever then you're better off going to indy.

Buy a nice set of HPS ceramic coated pads & drilled/slotted rotors and you'll be good to go.

Then go to Indy for install.

Best looking results with same bite as OEM if not better - less fade.

thanks for the replies guys, I'll prob just go try out the indy shop since I already made an appt with them and they are quite reputable on this forum.

Btw, does anyone know what a bmw schedule maintance I cost at a dealership?...this indy shop quotes $350...

Do those prices includes pads and rotors? My car says I have 2K left before replacement - is the computer always accurate or could I have a lot more room?
