transmision fill question

doing a drain and fill- got a surprise , could only get in 4 qts with engine running,,, thats after the rear of the car was lifted higher that the front
got almost 5 out,, when i checked it with the engine: running, removing the fill plug it appeared to be over filled, it wanted to pour out.

anybody ever seen 4 qts fill the GM tran.??

What was the temp on the drain. What temp on fill?

Should be more...I was able to get a total of 6 qts in

Did 2 weeks ago. Drained 4 Qt and filled 5.5Qt.
