Jay got Stage 1. They really recommend an oil cooler for Stage 2 along with an exhaust.

Edit: Also found that it was my thread that was closed, not sure why but trying to find out. Since they closed mine though I will work with Jay in this one since I got the same tune that Jay did on Friday. I am going to try to find a dyno location here in St. Louis sometime in the next week or so to setup a run. Otherwise, I will try to get something setup when I go back to Chicago on June 20th and I will have some numbers for you guys then.

One thing I was wondering was about their claims between stages and the corresponding supporting mods.

Seems the differences between I/II/III are slight enough that you would expect them to be achieved through the supporting mods alone, no?

Ahh, OK. This works. I was thinking conspiracy theory or something.

maybe it is more of a stacking effect? A little more tune, plus a little better flow with the mod: more gain than just 1 without the other?

Anyway, this thread closing shit is getting VERY annoying lately. I feel like I am in some Communist country watching fake news or something

Not sure. Since I do not have the oil cooler, I didn't want to take the chance with stage II.

would have been good if you took stock times from say 30mph to 100, and then did the same with your flash.

btw, why did the moderators close the other LET thread??
The plan is to flash the car back to stock, dyno. Then flash it back with stage I and dyno again. I am curious about the numbers too. I have to say though, whatever the numbers are, I don't care because the car is insane right now. But, everyone wants numbers which I understand

+1 - I agree with this and in hindsight I would not have posted before the dyno, but alas, I did so you have to suffer a bit until I can get to a Dyno.

Just playing devil's advocate.
Someone needs to play devil's advocate so have at it. They are not new, L.E.T. has been tuning Mercedes for awhile now and are one of if not the top tune for the Mercedes. They had some sick AMG cars in their shop that they were working with. If you are interested in more background on the company I can get some info and put you in touch with the owners, just shoot me a PM.

The shop where they do the work is in Plainfield, IL but I believe they have their corporate offices in Naperville, IL.

I worked with Tony to setup a group buy, so I got a cut off the MSRP, but the actual MSRP for the flash is $500 I think (Don't hold me to that, will need to double check with Tony). You can talk with Tony though directly and may be able to get a deal. They have shops around the nation and I will try to get a list of the shops where the tunes are and get back to you.

This is my thought. I know stage 1 to stage 2 adds about 1 psi of boost.

flash is 500 for stage 1 and another 100 for stage 2/3. you do not need to pay more money for stage 3.

stage 1 is 11.7 lbs of boost, stage 2 is 13 and i believe stage 3 is 14-15.

you do need the supporting mods.

I will have dynos on thursday with just the flash as well as the AMS exhaust.

Nebster can probably give you the full info on that, but stage 1 is stock. Stage 2 you need to have an oil cooler and exhaust. I believe with Stage 3 you need a FMIC and possibly downpipes along with the mods needed for stage 2.

stage 1: stock, no mods needed
stage 2: intake and catback exhaust required
stage 3: stage 2 mods + catless downpipes, FMIC

Well it was just something that I was wondering about.

I was quoted roughly 52, 60, and 80 HP (if I recall correctly) for stages I, II, and III respectively. So what I don't understand is the increase in boost plus the supporting mods from stage I to stage III only netting 28HP. I just don't get it. Unless I'm just not remembering things right. Maybe Tony or Ben could jump in and correct me if I'm wrong.... Or maybe I was just quoted the wrong numbers, because the LET 135 on stage III is hitting way higher than 80 HP gain.

I think either I misunderstood, or maybe I was misinformed? Please tell me so, because I had my heart set on Stage III until I heard that.

Ben is well on his way to stage III so I will let you quote the numbers for you if I don't get the info first.

Let stock 135i was at 275 whp

stage 1 hit 341 - http://www.letmotorsports.com/images/LET1352.jpg

the LET stage 3 is at 377 right now - http://www.eurocharged.com/135i_dyno.jpg

they're tweaking and i do know they have hit a 400 number on a mustang but i haven't seen the printed dyno yet (i was at the dyno when this happened)

so there ya go. the beauty with LET is that they will continue to do R&D and if they come out with something better they'll upgrade you for free.

They can also take the flash and customize it to your mods on a dyno to make sure they get the most out of it as well. I am potentially looking into this next time if/when I make the jump to stage II.

yep you can do that as well.

the options are virtually endless. they'll push whatever you want as long as you sign a waiver

Plus it isn't always ALL about horsepower. There is also Torque. Also don't forget you are comparing max, but there could be alot more in-between the peaks. Without dyno graphs it is all speculation since we can't compare the delta's. More importantly, many mods can help the turbos spool up faster and easier, stay cooler, and run more consistently on continuous pulls. Sometimes you lose weight, sometimes you lower IAT's., etc.

But, you would hope a full Stage 3 setup could hit 400 RWHP (dynojet) without exceeding 15 psi. THAT would be a great tune (and attainable I think).

True.

A lot of these flashes, and even JB3 1.3 have shown incredible torque gains down low....

How much do they normally charge for an individualized dyno tune?

335iPaul, What if you need to bring your car in for warranty work? Can they flash it back to stock?
I am really interested in stage II. They are local too, which is a plus for me.
