Like I said, I run EBC yellows in my M5, they are much better than the standard pads which faded far too easily, even on the road, not what you want in a 400bhp car!

There are better pads out there, DS2500's are superb, I used to run them in my Nissan 200SX S14a, they gave me no issues at the Nurburgring, but they cost twice the price and I'm not using the M5 on track, so they're not required.

Older EBC pads may have been crap, current pad compounds are not, I'd buy yellows again for sure.

Im running nitrac discs and akebono pads. Oem performance no brake dust. Eg 3 piece polished lip rims, 3 weeks not being cleaned and all 4 lips were simply wiped clean with a single micro fibre.

gaza01, Where did you get your akabeno pads from? I've looked at various sites including rockauto but then read that some people have received pads that don't fit.

I used to run Performance friction pads on OEM M3 discs on my E36 328i and they were awesome.
They didn't dust loads and had about 6mm on them after 8k miles. They stopped well from cold too.

I would like to give a +1 to EBC Redstuff on OEM discs,
I got hold of Bosch brake discs for a silly cheap price they are coated in zinc so they look nice (avoids rust on the hub and vents).

I had Reds on my previous car and loved them so much I had to fit them to the 335 and they do not disappoint and there is pretty much no dust at all.

It is my opinion slotted and or drilled discs don't bring anything to the table.

I read a lot of comments about redstuff being no good at all when cold and while I will admit the first couple of brakes arent quite as sharp as yellowstuff but they warm up very quickly and I prefer the almost dustless ceramic compound (Red) and they stand up better on track days too.

Interesting, with Matt finished wheels brake dust for me is an issues as cleaning the Matt grained finish is really laborious therefore lack of brake dust would be a real bonus. I've heard of the pad name before but haven't any expierience of performance noise etc. interested to hear your feedback Mark

I have been known to drive quite rapidly in my time mate and have no complaints with these, yet to experience any brake fade even when having to stamp on the brakes from 3 figures [ on private roads of course] The biggest benefit for me having machine finished rims is the brake dust or lack of.
Cleaning the wheels is now a quick squirt of Sonax alloy cleaner, a rinse with the jet wash and dry.

Yes Steve, standard discs although i am thinking of changing to some drilled discs of some kind in the near future purely for aesthetics.

I was lucky enough to find a member selling a brand new pair quite cheap. They are available through Amazon though mate.

Sorry...just seen this.
I got them off Amazon. The supply had dried up at one point as no one wanted to ship abroad (only available in US) but I know someone who recently ordered a pair so they may have just started back shipping to the UK

I have been doing some serious research into this myself, these are my findings:

Ferodo pads (Cant remember the model no.) are supposed to be the best for hardcore/track driving.
EBC Redstuff are apparently equivalent to the OEM pads. - I read this in a few places online. Not proved this myself.
EBC Yellowstuff USED to be not-great, but EBC reformulated their compound and now they're excellent. I bought a set two weeks ago based on what I read elsewhere ((obv not this thread haha), was using Mintex before (not good imo).
I can vouch for just how much grief the EBC Yellowstuff pads can take. I used them to clean my Mintex pads' deposits on my non OEM discs to stop vibrations. This involved driving for 50 miles, breaking from 60 to 10 3 times, then driving for a minute, and repeating this about 15-20 times - I lost count. If my juddring comes back I will bite the bullet and get the OEM discs (Eurgh... £280).
I would avoid Drilled and Grooved discs, I have read more posts about people complaining about vibrations/judder whist using them that I am certainly avoiding them unless they are OEM drilled and grooved.
I would avoid pads that cost naff all if like me you're putting them on a 350+bhp car. It's logic.

UPDATE!!!!

Since starting this thread I've been running ebc grooved disks and yellowstuff- good combination although little bit more dust than with redstuff. Feel like you need to get heat in them before they really start working - although perfectly fine for normal driving from cold.

When pads are low I'm going to try redstuff again (previous Mtech drilled disks with redstuff combo gave me vibration & wobble) - I'm betting it was the disks and I'll be ok going back to redstuff on these proven ebc disks now.

I put EBC yellows on the 335i prior to going to Curborough sprint circuit over the weekend. Stopping power is great - especially over the OEM Jurid pads that I had on the car prior (they still had around 50% of the meat left on them too).

If you're running OEM calipers, they don't stand up to a repeated beating (nor do the pre-LCI M3 ones either). The car is simply too heavy for the discs and pads that come with it.

Unless you're a track lunatic, EBC yellows, a decent-ish set of discs and some new brake fluid will be all you'll need.

...another thing to remember is that your tyres play a massive role in stopping your car. You can have the biggest, baddest brake setup in the world, but if you're running rock hard, tired, cheapo tyres then you're probably INCREASING the amount of time taken to bring the car to a halt... if you overcome the tyre's limit of grip, due to your super-duper brakes, then you're just going to slide.

Been running Stoptech Rotors and EBC yellow stuff now for 3 years.

Seems to stop 420bhp quite well - zero complaints
