GPS that i can mount on the dash?
I am in the market for a relatively low budget GPS system. my new work requires me to travel around in Surrey/langley, so i need a gps cause i have no clue how to get around those areas.
Here is the thing though, I want something that i can mount on the top dash of the car, instead of putting the suction cup stand thing on the window. I know Sony gps comes with dash mounts, but they are a bit over my budget @ 350 @ bestbuy. does anyone know a gps under $250 that offers a dash suction mount? (+ any gva people have deals on gps that you can kindly offer ) thanks

Whatever Garmin model you get, make sure the keyboard layout is in QWERTY format. To this day, the sequential alpha keyboard is the worst feature on my older 660 model. YOU SUCK GARMIN!

ya, i want a dash one because i think it looks more refine with the car. i dont like a long suction rod sticking into the windsheld. + i also find using the gps near the dash to be easier

This Garmin is worth it!
http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/s...d.php?t=609044 I ordered mine through Costco and got it delivered in a week's time. Works great and I have no issues with it. I picked up a stereo cable from theSource and plugged it to the aux line and the stereo picks up the mp3 music great. I like how the 350 pauses the music to tell you when to turn. Here's a writeup on the 350: http://gpsmagazine.com/2007/08/garmi...350_review.php |

Don't dash mounts, besides the kudo one, usually use double sided tape though to mount on dash?

Proclip has the best dash mounts that are easily removable. It also allows easy detachment of the GPS so you can hide it in the glovebox to reduce the risk of the car being broken into. I use that in all of my cars.
Leadtime is ususally 3 to 4 days unless the item is on back order. http://www.proclipusa.com/choosecoun...secountry.aspx

you mean you want to do a DIY that allows the usb to run to your battery source?
all usb cable have the same wires. But they only run on 5v's (i believe) so you will also have to get a resistor that will lower the voltage down to 5v's or whatever ur gps uses. any USB wire will do.

i ment to say you can get any wire that has a usb head on it, and just cut the other end of (which you can expose the wires).

One easy solution is to use a USB car charger such as a Scosche brand one from Walmart like the one in the attached photo ($10 - $15). It is a cigarette lighter stick with one or two USB-A female outlets at the end. You can connect up to 2 standard USB-A-male to 5-pin-mini-USB-B-male cables to it and power any USB device including your GPS and Blackberry. If you want it hardwired you can simply hardwire the cigarette lighter portion - either solder wires to it or get a 12V cigarette lighter socket from Canadian Tire and connect wires to that - wrap it up with electrical tape and bury the whole thing somewhere out of sight. P.S. BTW Proclips sells hardwireable versions of GPS device holders. Here is an example of one for the TomTom 920T: http://www.proclipusa.com/?sectionpa...p_leftorright=
