My experience at BMW Mississauga

Wow this sure is getting old. I don't know how many of you read my post about my beef with BMW Toronto, but here comes chapter 2.

Made my appointment with BMW Mississauga to have my alarm installed 2 weeks ago. I called them yesterday to confirm and they knew nothing about. Now thats what I call professional. Anyways, one of the SA managed to book me in and gave me a price of $177.50 with 1.5 hours labour time. I said great see you tommorow.

Get there this morning and everything was ready to go, when some asshole comes over and says " The alarm will take 2 hours to install and 1.5 and therefore it will cost you $236.00.

Wow, I could go on and on about how pissed off I'am with BMW retailers here in Canada, but I'm sure you all know how I feel. Why can't these people just do business properly.

That sucks... I'm taking both my cars there over the next two weeks. They won't guarentee me a loaner, but we'll see how they handle business this month.

OK update. I filed a serious complaint to Sales person whom I bought the car from and he rectified. For those of you that are interested, i've attached a copy of the email.

C***s:

Thanks for straightening everything out. You know that I’ am pretty reasonable guy and generally easy going. The stunt that Mr. K*** G******t tried pulling on me was not only insulting, but displayed bad business ethics. I know for a fact that the installation only takes 1.5 hours, because I called around to other dealerships for comparison. I have written quotes Budds BMW in Oakville and BMW Toronto confirming 1.5 hours labour. He also tried selling some story that the price quoted was for a 335 convertible. The 335 coupe and 335 convertible have identical chassis’ are structurally the same under hood. (Where the alarm will be installed) The only difference is the retractable hard top roof. I ‘am a very knowledgeable BMW enthusiast and I do a lot of research on these cars.

Chris, I could go on and on about who said what and who is right and who is wrong. But at the end of the day, in business, your word is your balls. Excuse the profanity, but I believe that strongly in that. When you make a deal with someone, whether it be verbal or in writing, then you should honor it. That’s how you build strong long lasting relationships.

I would suggest forwarding this e-mail to management to further evaluate this unfortunate incident. If it happened to me, then who knows how many other people it happened to.

Thanks for clearing everything up and thanks for letting me vent.

Regards,

Marc Jankowski

The alarm isn't in yet. The appointment has been rescheduled for monday. They agreed to honor the original price. I'll keep everyone posted on the outcome

Right on! The amount of money they want for those cars they should at least be honest and upfront about costs... not play around and think the consumer is an idiot because they got the privilege of paying 25% more for a bmw in Canada.

today i went for a drive in a 335 and 135, to see which one sang to me, i love the 335 more, feels more refined, and just not as crunched up, although the 135 feels like a rocket, wow.

While waiting at that dealership, i saw this dude working there backing up the 7 series into the showroom, he hits the corner of the metal doors, and the mirror case comes off and drops to the floor.
damn, he picked it up and put it back on, i wonder how dented/scratched that thing is.

Hey guys, thanks for all your support. In case you can't tell, I'm not the kind of person who likes to be pushed around. But you gotta hand it to BMW Mississauga. Even though they fucked up, at least they tried to make up for it. Unlike my unfortunate experience at BMW Toronto. I'm sure most of you read the thread, but for those that didn't, enjoy!!

http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=165455

Chris B the salesman over at BMW Mississauga, is pretty decent and understanding guy.

I think I figured out why I'm getting this crappy treatment. It's because I'm walking into these dealerships with OEM parts in my hands. They're pissed off because I'm buying the parts elsewhere. (God Bless Jason over at Tischer. He is truly a Saint)

Anyways, I hope everyone here is taking notes and learning from my experience. Just because I'm 26 and I look like some stupid rich kid, I work hard for my money and the reason I can afford a beautiful 335 is because I'm a smart businessman and I don't get ripped off.

Amen

Go for the 335. It's truly the ultimate driving machine. Your story about the 7 series scares the hell out of me. Anytime I take my car in for service, I always get someone at the desk to do a walk around the car and point out all scratches and other damage prior to handing over the keys.

$177.50 for installation and activation. Are you thinking of getting it done at BMW Mississauga? If so, please let me know.

Somehow I need to use this to my advantage. I really want to show these dealerships that they have to stop ripping people off and understand how well connected the BMW community is. Any ideas?

You need to purchase the actual alarm. This includes a control box, siren and wiring harness. Do you have these items?
