Intake Cam bearing Ledge improperly Cast

Anyone have any dealings with the intake cam ledge being improperly cast on their car. I have been reading it is an issue on cars made early 2005 to mid to end 2006. My cars production date falls right into the middle of that all that..... I am beginning to worry that is the issue I am currently facing.

If anyone has had experience with this outside of their warranty time frame I would love to hear from you.

FYI, I have a p1553 and p1554 with noticeably reduced power in low end. I have replaced BOTH my VANOS solenoids and it helped but only slightly. My idle is not as rough as it was before.

Hydro lifters will ALWAYS tick, its the nature of the beast. As for the cam ledge, i have been finding more and more complaints about it. It seems many of the older motors didn't run into the issues because the head was replaced for "ticking" lifters. I have already confirmed my head has never been replaced using the serial number on it.

What are the symptoms? I just past 173,000 mi. No issues other than the overheating thing on the track.

More info here

http://www.bmwcca.org/forum/index.ph...lacement.6085/

There is only a small number of cars suspected to be affected by this, however,

E90 and E91 (3 Series) with N52 engine produced from 3/2005 through 6/ 2006
E90, E91, E92 and E93 (3 Series) with N51, N52K and N54 engines produced from 7/2006

are the affected for our cars.

My car has less than 60k on the odometer..... My car was manufactured in 11/2005

My car was manufactured on 9/05 and I have no ticking or other motor issues. 55k miles and I drive it rather hard.

I as well have no Ticking, however, this is a completely unrelated issue. The Camshaft ledges are completely replaceable without replacing the head completely. The Service bulletins for this were recently, loaded JUN 01, 2011. I have read rumors of a recall.
