My attempt: DIY FRONT TURBO wastegate rattle fix

The title pretty much sums up my night and most of my weekend probably. I have bad front wastegate rattle whenever I'm off the gas. My Indy quoted me $500-600 to tighten the actuator arm because the turbo has to come off. Before shelling out that much to tighten a bolt, I wanted to have a run at it myself to get a closer look at the turbo and see if there are other issues.

So far tonight I have removed
- passenger front wheel
- all undertrays
- front downpipe
- water pump to thermostat connecting hose
- unbolted steering rack so it can be moved around

All of this have me a pretty good look at the front wastegate actuator arm. And the bolt. I can get a small wrench on it but there's no room to turn. Tomorrow I'm going back at it with a couple more ideas and will post if I have any results.

For now, one question. There is a lot of play in the actuator rod and in the wastegate itself inside the turbo. I can move both around a good bit. Is this a sign that the whole turbo might be going and the actuator arm adjustment isn't the fix I need? Happy to answer any questions and will post progress.

to adjust front turbo waste gate, it is easier to put washers on the waste gate bracket..did it on mine and it worked great! of course waste gate adjustment for rattle is just a bandaid fix.. you can probably find all the details if you look for the post where I explain this ( on my profile)
