e92 328i muffler delete and resonator?

Currently I own a 328i coupe with a muffler delete. Sounds great, though as I was driving today, another coupe identical to mine floored it past me and sounded like a bat out of hell. A quick look at the exhaust and it was also a muffler delete. I was wondering what the difference between our two cars was? Mine tends to sound muffled and droney and the other one was sharp like a race exhaust...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am assuming right now that it was a resonator delete. Would this be a good idea to install on a 328i?

Could be a header + custom/aftermarket exhaust.

yeah I was looking into headers can anyone recommend some that aren't too pricey? I know AA has some but thats a bit out there for me right now.

yeah 335 and sleeper in the same phrase lol, however.....:

1. Buy 335
2. FBO the 335
3. Change rear bumper from double to single inlet (something nice like the sport bumper) + single race exhaust
4. Replace 335 badge with 328
5. See people faces doing wtf?!?! when you pass them like a bat out of hell with what seems to be a 328
